Back in the day, watching Debs does Dallas via dial up was a mare, even worse - got cramp in both hamstrings.
I remember WAP porn on the first picture mobiles - one of my mates waited 2 hours for this JPEG of a pair of tits to come through at uni once. No wonder we still bought magazines and watched videos back then. Videos like hot drops. A classic

Won't let me complete the link - but it works if you copy and paste :-)
Sorry something went wrong when I replied. I can't get onto internet on my Pc to try this so will wait until tomorrow. Need to wind down now as my head is spinning with PC problems. Thanks to everyone who has offered advice.
There has been a major Windows 10 update rolling out in recent weeks. Not sure how big that is but will almost certainly download in the background and will be one of the bigger updates for sure.
If you're still concerned about malware, as well as malwarebytes you could Google 'eset online scanner' which I've found to catch things other scanners miss. It's free.
The simplest explanation is usually the right one though - that amount of data could be down to video. Have you downloaded stuff on Sky or iplayer, etc?
On your wifi router there must be an interface page. On there there will be advanced settings where hopefully you'll be able to see mac addresses connected.
You might find some unknown devices using your connection.

Thanks - is this the bit that says Connection WLAN Clients? If so there is nothing connected.
I changed the password that allows me into the device settings. Should the WPA pre-shared key also be changed? Isf so, I can't see how to do that.
My data allowance left is down to 5.9GB this morning from 15Gb last Saturday.
@Clem_Snide I have attached screen shot of task manager as you suggested
Chrome used 5gb of usage. What have you been watching? ;-)
I don't know what period of time that 5GB was measured over. Our normal usage on Chrome is Charlton Life, Facebook, Outlook, BBC Travel, Wunderground and for online banking. All of those pages are set to open when I start up Chrome. Could this be having be having an effect on amount of data being used? My husband also plays online games but we haven't use any of these any more than we normally would and we have never gone over our allowance before.
I have spoken to Three again this morning (fortunately have the week off so have more time to do this). They have changed the WPA Pre-shared key password. They are going to monitor the usage over the next 10 days but they seem to think it is my PC.
Has anyone else used more data than normal on updating Windows 10. We've had Windows 10 for a few months now.

Definitely change your WiFi password.
It wont clear the data but it'll speed up your Internet as it'll be more aero dynamic as the data to flow through the holes
