Is this a suitable arena for my story about the Bulgarian stripper who had his number "in case she got into trouble whilst in London"?

    No.
  • Loved him. Would take 11 of him in our team now , all day long
  • @PragueAddick Get in here mate, you've got the inside track on Kish.
  • One of my favourite ever players.
Not the best technically but give me 11 grafters any day.
    Loved his passion and commitment
  • Worse thing about him is his wiki page pic! In a Leicester shirt!!!? Someone who knows more than me about such things really should change that to him in Charlton red. 7 games for the Foxes. 180 for us.
  • Nothing special at RB, but a really good defensive midfielder, and a great character. I remember that team that blossomed for a few months in 2005? with Kish and Smertin doing the donkey in midfield, Murphy in what we would now call the No 10 role, and Bent up top.

  • Him and John Robinson epitomised what it meant to play for Charlton when I was growing up. 110% every week, left nothing out on the pitch.

I also think Kishishev was a far better player than he was given credit for. Very effective playing alongside Murphy if I remember correctly.

  • He ruined us for Brighton in that 4-0 defeat
  • Curbs loved him. Proper players player. Apparently covered more miles than anyone.
There was a black player who used to play for Fulham in midfield. He was massive and he had a nickname which I cannot remember. He clattered Parker i think and Kish ran over to get involved then very wisely thought better of it!

I named my old Volvo Estate "Kishishev" as although it was not the most spectacular car but like him it was strong, reliable and had a big heart.
  • Len's just basically said what I was going to. I could see why some don't rate him as if you do look at the goals against highlight reels, you'll see plenty of Kish mistakes leading to goals, which was just unfortunate, but his terrific work-rate, the way he always wanted the ball and made himself available made him one of my favourite CAFC players.

I also had the privilege of being one of very few Addicks to see him score a 30 yard screamer in the friendly in Shenzhen.
  • A true definition of a team mate. Never grumbled about his lot and always put a shift in.

The reason his mistakes are highlighted on here was he never hid in any match.

These threads kill me, remembering the greats we had to the shower we have now.

  • Loved him as a player and Len has summed up his qualities perfectly. I was fortunate enough to have a chat with him at a POTY do, on one my trips over. He was just a really nice down to earth guy, who was gutted that Pardew didn't like him and had sent him out on loan, I think it was to Leeds. So even though he wasn't playing for us, he still attended our POTY function.

I always thought that he was good at bailing others out when they made a mistake. But if he made a mistake no one managed to repay the favour so he often got blamed for the team conceding goals.

Interesting to see someone post something similar to what I was going to say. He was a real hard worker but for some reason, whenever he did make a mistake, wherever it was on the pitch, it led to a goal. I've never looked at it from your perspective, I just always assumed he was massively unlucky.

I used to really dislike him when he started. I was young and didn't see what he brought to the tem, especially at RB, but as I got older I began to understand how much he did in the middle of the park. Lovely man as well. Big fan
Absolutely. A really honest hard worker who never hid. I thought he was a great player for us and could never understand the stick that some people gave him.
  • Loved him even for his flaws. Gave everything every game.
Used to always know within the first couple of minutes what kind of game he was going to have though. If he gave the ball away then take him off. If he did something well within those couple of minutes you knew it was odds on he would be our best player and mostly likely man of the match.
  • there is an anecdote/joke about Kish - cant remember it all & don't want to repeat it as I'd rather someone who knows it fully to repeat it - but goes along the lines of a manager ringing Curbs after a game asking him to get Kish to stopping following ????? around as he cant go to sleep.

Well remembered ... Which returns the memory for me.

    He was excellent.
  • Unsung hero

I remember a Sky reporter speaking to Mourinho shortly before a match against Chelsea and he picked our Kishishev for special mention.
A key player for us, but sadly many fans could not seem to see beyond his flaws.
It's the fate of many players of that era. If they were more perfect they would not have been playing for Charlton.
Curbs got the best out of him.

I think he won most fans were won over by him in the last couple of years . I remember us beating Boro away 3-0
And him and Smertin absolutely bossed it
  • That midfield 3 of smertin, kish and Murphy when they were on fire that season will probably be the best I'll ever see of a Charlton midfield.

    Parker/Jensen?!

It looked like Curbs had hit the mother-lode; what with Benty sticking them away and Rommedahl in the mix.
And then the oppo started crowding Murphy out.
