Too realistic for me. Started a career on fm16 with Chelmsford, moved to Bromley and took them up to league 2 from the conference South and had them at mid-table before I got the gig at Charlton. Mind you I had to take over with Charlton 22nd in league 2 when Duchatelet left. Got promoted the next season. Stopped playing after being rock bottom of league 1.
Had a proper look at the financial information and it turns out I was paying a 38million pound loan back to a former owner. 220k a month. My wage budget for the season was 473k. That was joint lowest in the top 6tiers of English football. The other team was Telford. Still rangles with me.
Just said my goodbyes to my ebbsfleet side I got to league one, since dr abdullah what's his name and Varney sold to the fans trust. Moved on to a struggling Leeds side in championship.
It's a shame I never get to play it anymore now I've moved in with the missus :<
Even Football Manager 2017 thinks we're doomed. On the video at 27:46 there's a few seconds of the league 1 table after 26 games. Charlton are 23rd with 22 points!
@Scoham is it true that the game has different scenatios for Brexit and some seasons you will have to apply for work permits for European players etc? Or am I being wound up?

Started my game as Charlton... Expected to Win League One, With a transfer budget of £0 and a wage budget of -£30K, within 2 weeks had offers for both Konsa and Lookman, obviously turned them down which pissed both off them off to the point of requesting transfers. Holmes is massively underrated (rated as 3 star for League One), Crofts massively over rated (rated 4 Star), Magennis also underrated. Most of the U23's and U18's are either under or over rated. Hoping for a decent updates patch soon.

Welcome to the relationship-tied life of a gamer... It's rare and beautiful when you do get to game...

New signings were all rated by the researcher of their previous club. It would be wrong to change them based on their first few games for us.
Transfer and wage budget is based on the situation now after all the summer signings. We have a lot of players out on loan who we are most likely paying part of their wages, plus Ba, Tex and Johnson.
The star ratings are only a guide and based on the assistant managers opinion (and therefore on their judging player ability rating).
Holmes should still do very well in the game, he has good winger attributes. Considering he was in League Two last season and injured for a chunk of that he was never going be rated that much higher than he is currently. If he keeps on playing well he will deserve a boost for the next data update (which is usually after the January window closes).
Crofts is looking like he's been rated too highly I agree, will see how he does over the next few months.
Magennis is probably a bit too low but his main strengths are all rated highly, i.e. acceleration, pace, strength and work rate. His main position was down as MR/AMR, which I changed to striker. I'm guessing he may have been playing on the right wing in Scotland, which might explain some of his lower attributes.
The full game will have slightly updated data including updates to the u18s based on the handbook which came out on Saturday (dates of births and strengths of the new u18s).
As I mentioned above any major updates to first team players will have to wait until the January transfer update. By then they'd have played for us for half a season - it's still very early to say who our best players are.
I'd best interested in any specifics around the u23s and u21s, I can look into it if you share examples. Some I just haven't seen much of, if at all, so the game generates many of heir attributes. Dijksteel for example wasn't even in the database this time last year and I haven't been able to see him play.
For the more tech savvy in here, don't know if this is the best thread for it but I'll have a go. Been overdue a new laptop for a long, long time. Not looking for anything major, usual word processor and browsing. Would be nice to be able to run FM and other fairly light demand games too, Counter Stike/Minecraft for example. How much do we reckon I'd be spending and any recommendations?

There's a big thread on the SI forums that may be worth looking in or posting on:
Does anyone know if you can download a free version of seasons 15 or 16?
You'd need to find a torrent from somewhere (which is of course illegal) as the game is still being sold.
The below link though is worth checking out as its a Group of people who continue to use Championship Manager 01/02 which is by far the best version ever created (My opinion) and continue to update it every season.

Most important for FM is CPU (for processing power) and RAM (for running as much simultaneously as possible). Graphics card also matters for the 3D match engine.
Basically look for anything with at least 4GB of RAM and 2.6GHz to guarantee a decent experience. FM's performance also heavily depends on how much of the database you're trying to play with - the more leagues/players you want to load up for your game, the slower it will run.
Cheers, it's very tempting to start one. I think last time I started a save on the a beta version both sides would be conceding about 3 in the game and it was just silly.
I have, seems fine to me but haven't got too far in. Full release will have slightly updated data if that bothers you (for us that's minor things such as correct date of births for the new u18s).

Phillips was rated by the Cheltenham researcher, can't remember how high he's been rated off the top of my head.
Konsa's had a big boost though I haven't gone over the top.
Would this run it?

Played briefly last night. The only two I noticed were,
4 red cards in 4 matches and the league cup draw was formatted awfully, i.e The name of the away teams did not fit on the page.
I won't start any proper saves until the proper release
Ahhh, the sweet sweet embrace of nostalgia...
