Rudd joins Preston on a 3 year contract. Undisclosed fee

I thought Norwich had released him.

Good luck to him - thought he was good and would have been happy to have him back.

Good luck to him, thought he was decent.
If we had gone up last season I think he would have signed here permanently.

They gave him a new one year contract, presumably so that they could get a fee

Good luck to him. Championship is probably his level.

I wasn't too sad to see him go - too many balls seemed to bounce off his body & snapped up by an oncoming striker - Phillips is just as good, if not better imo.

Very good shot stopper, certainly kept us in some games last year. Distribution and ability under high balls needed work. About what you'd expect for a mid-table Championship keeper.

Best of luck to him. Norwich probably have a better 'keeper in Angus Gunn, son of Brian Gunn, on loan from Manchester City. He's very highly rated.

As for us, I'm happy for us to give space to allow Phillips and Beeney to blossom. Signing Rudd would have required a fee and probably pretty significant wages. Think we're better off with someone like David Martin on a free and allowing him to compete with Phillips for the #1. Rudd is arguably the better keeper right now, but from the bits I've seen Phillips has the ability to be at that level, if not better.

I would have concerns about going into the season with just Phillips and Beeney if we're serious about a promotion push.

And Phillips has at least 12 years in front of him.

Good luck to him. He's a good keeper and probably one of the best in the league last season. I was personally expecting a bit more from him but he's good enough.

Now time to sign either Martin or maybe even Hamer as he is right down the pecking order. But let Phillips have a chance, he deserves it otherwise if he leaves, we will regret that in future.

Just like we did with Henderson.

Probably only a year with us if he does well. The club will pay him more than minimum wage now.
