Long term, you'd have thought Pompey would have more potential than Wigan. A much bigger fanbase, and a city to themselves, whereas Wigan are dominated by the Manchester and Liverpool giants, and the town itself is more of a Rugby townSDAddick said:

One of the things you have to remember about Pompey is that it is fan-owned and run now. Therefore there is no extravagant expense - in the case of Cook i would suspect that that he was simply offered more money at Wigan.
In saying that, Pompey's avergae gates were huge for Tier 4 and will obviously increase in T3.
