Very highly rated youngster (next Messi, blah blah blah) who broke through @ Dundee United and moved to Sporting CP a few years ago. Didnt work out for him there yet is currently doing very well in Liga NOS for Farense

When I was helping out, the pitch was marked out before every game. I’ve never thought about it until I saw that photo, but I’m assuming the soil below absorbs some of the paint, so that when that top inch is taken off, the lines are still visible.
