Karl Robinson wants to meet protesting fans
I said to him I just wanted to say hello as I'm a big Charlton fan, he then asked if I was one of the good ones or bad ones in a jokey way. I told him that I do help out with the protests and he responded by saying that he really wants to meet us and understand why we are protesting because from what he has been told by the owners they are doing a good job. He kept stressing that he wanted to meet the people protesting.
I couldn't really get a word in edgeways with him, but he talked about Chris O'Laughlin and stressed that it was his choice to keep him here (felt that was odd for him to bring up as I hadn't) He then said "you know he's not going to sell the club"
I asked him if he had seen the emails, he said he hadn't.
He then said that Roland admitted to him that when he bought the club he did not understand English football. (don't know what's changed because he has seen at most 2 matches live since?)
He also stated that he was very ambitious and wants to get into the premier league and he feels that he is now at a club that can achieve that. He said that Roland has the funds to back us in the premier league.
Came across as a really genuine guy, don't doubt that he believes what he's saying, but obviously does not know all the lies we have been told for the past 3 years and what has driven us to this point. From meeting him I doubt that he would take any crap from the owners, but who knows {...}

Did you ask him if he'd listened to GTKTN?0
-
Well there is the open invitation, sure he'll invite @Addickted2TheReds, @Davo55 and others down to Sparrows Lane in no time...2
-
Maybe he should just read one or two threads on here. My advice to him would be to focus on the team - if he gives us something to support we will support him and the team, but never the regime.7
-
No, wish I had. Asked him if he had seen the emails, he said he hadn't but Roland has admitted to not understanding English football when he first bought the club. So he obviously knew about the emails.0

But they are not doing a good job and he will sell15

Really? He must be pretty gullible to ignore the world of football condemning every action they've taken and take Daisy saying "we are doing a good job at Charlton" as the truth. Think he might be smarter than that. Bit of a politician is Karl I reckon.benjest1989 said:I told him that I do help out with the protests and he responded by saying that he really wants to meet us and understand why we are protesting because from what he has been told by the owners they are doing a good job.

Is he aware of where we were when they took over and where we are now? And if the owner had serious ambitions of reaching the premier league then perhaps it might've been better to attempt it when we were 1 division away and not 2?benjest1989 said:Was in a petrol station last night in lee and Karl Robinson drove in, didn't want to bother him but though id go and say hello and shake his hand.

CAS Trust has written to KR offering to meet him and explain more about the protests

I hope you are right. After all, RD is hardly going to tell someone he is trying to recruit for the most important role (well, it would be at "normal" clubs) that he might be off like a robbers dog any minute now.SE7toSG3 said:But they are not doing a good job and he will sell

Did he collect his Nectar points?14

Every time I hear or see these words coming from someone within the club it's like a punch to the stomach.benjest1989 said:I couldn't really get a word in edgeways with him, but he talked about Chris O'Laughlin and stressed that it was his choice to keep him here (felt that was odd for him to bring up as I hadn't) He then said "you know he's not going to sell the club"

As stated earlier, they are doing a very poor job and he will sell if he can get the price he wants (Why else do they keep saying they are not going to sell everytime someone speaks to them?)1
-
If he claims not to know why people are protesting then he's either lying or an idiot26

Katrien says the club isn't for sale, and that it would be mind blowing if it was.
She always tells the truth.7 -
be interesting to see if Katie let's him meet you and if she does whether she will let him attend alonecastrust said:CAS Trust has written to KR offering to meet him and explain more about the protests

Let's hope he says what he means and will take up the trust's offer. I'm sure it won't go down too well with the senior management team.castrust said:CAS Trust has written to KR offering to meet him and explain more about the protests

I can see this fella going the same way as Bob Peeters. Attractive football but not scared to tell people what he thinks.0 -
Bloody laughable. How gullible is Robinson? So Duchatelet has told him he's doing a good job and Robinson has believed him over the facts and evidence right in front of him.
He will sell the club, he'll have no choice.
Duchatelet may well have the funds but we've already learnt in almost three years that he won't use them to improve the quality of our squad.15 -
Exactly. Offered a job at a club where he knows there's immense discord with fans and there has been numerous managers over a short space of time, but doesn't bother to find out what's behind it all before accepting?ateamofcorygibbs said:If he claims not to know why people are protesting then he's either lying or an idiot

Somewhat surprising that he seems unable to use Google.5 -

The penny will drop when he agrees to sell Lookman and then gets hardly any money to re-invest in the team4
-
He then said "you know he's not going to sell the club"
of course he's not Karl ;-))0 -
Katie will arrange the meeting with "certain" fans so that Bernie can complain that her Vol-au-Vents arent being cooked properly!!2
-
Either very gullible or attempting to be a master of diplomacy.
Bizarre that he seems to think he's now at a club where he can reach the Premier League. Karl, if you want to manage a club to the Premier League then you'd be much better off joining one that actually has aspirations of being there. Still, I'm sure you'll enjoy coaching the Premier League stars of tomorrow for a few months before the next transfer window arrives.6 -
It is interesting them telling him they are doing a good job but admitting mistakes to us! Even if they don't get what the mistakes are!!!5
-
De cloob will ensure he's chaperoned or include him in one of their stage-managed denial sessions. Meire must be dreading the first question next time she has to face the music.
Q. Katrien, what do you have to say to the revelation that Roland Duchatelet was indeed interfering with Chris Powell's team selection and tactics days after taking over, despite repeated denials from you in the past?
A. Every time that was the right decision........we moved up the rankings.....The Shareholder does it his way.5 -
A meeting has already been arranged with the East Kent mob, so he will find out then, nothing to worry about with regards to protest, it is only disgruntled ex employees.2
-
He likes to talk about Congo Chris a lot doesn't he. It's as if he's desperate to be believed for some reason.
Like Slade he's taken what they've said at face value. Assuming RD is still here Robinson won't be here by the end of next season - he'll either be sacked during a bad run or fall out with them (was that the reason Peeters went?).
All his talk of exciting football is great but most new managers say the right things. Will he get the players he needs to make it work? Can he actually pull it off? MK Dons are below us in the table, he's not going to walk straight in and having us play exciting, winning football. Not with the current central midfield at least - they can get results but I can't see them suiting that type of football. Will he adapt if he can't get the players he needs? Peeters, Luzon and Slade all had their main style/system and rarely changed it.18
