Nobody really rated this fella, but the stats clearly show that he should be in the team every week:

Another one who wasn't appreciated. But he improved morale no-end as his Nosferatu impression cheered up the team's Halloween party

If Luzon was the next Alex Ferguson, this guy was surely the next David Beckham:

    The Vin Nguyen
  • Took 'The Vin Nguyen' to Charlton from Eltham Palace Juniors-he would have been about 15 - Refugee from Vietnam - in junior football was outstanding. At Charlton he was taught systems , at the cost of developing his talent. Vin did not need football and eventually just walked away - bit of a waste really.

Saw him play a couple of times for the reserves. He certainly had something about him.

there was so many, think you have to look at the players who did the 'job' rather than take plaudits
At CB, we certainly had 2 in Perry and Fortune.
Midfield, Bryan Hughes? solid player who chipped in with important goals
Up front, think we all realise just how good Bartlett was now, the man could just hover in the air and was important to others around him.

I was going to mention Jamie Stuart but nah, he was crap.

Going back a long while but Ronnie White, a left-sided midfielder (or attacking midfielder in our terms) was quality - length of pass, tackles, and shooting. Very underused and underated. Played fifty odd matches in the top division but broke a leg which then meant he was never quite the same. Fond memories...
  • Diawara - excellent player who a large number of fans dismissed after a couple of poor opening games. Think he wasn't used to playing in a team where the ball spent so much time in the air.
Calm on the ball and one of the best tacklers I've seen.
  • So many over the years. Bobby Curtis, Paul Went, Alan Campbell, Morts, Big Fat Pete, Dave Madden, Jim Melrose, Kish, Graham Stuart, Lisbie
Colin Powell & John Humphrey were not underrated by Charlton fans, but were by the England manager.

Genuinely think Crofts is underrated by many on here.

e.g. Instantly classed as shit after Saturday but he was the player who had the sense and realisation to get his body on the goal line and save the last minute attempt from MK Dons... His passing granted isnt the best but he's around to get in the faces of the opposition, stop them from being comfortable on the ball and so force them backwards. Its Ulvestad's job to do the passing!!

Yeah, and thanks to that bastard we've got a bloody replay to deal with now. Read the room Andrew!

Agree - lot of what was called then 'dribbling skill' + always looked classy. Mystery why he played so intermittently . Wonder whether his heart was in it - this is a time before a bench, and if Ronnie was not in the starting lineup he would allegedly not hang around , but instead would wander across the road to spend the afternoon at Charlton dog track.

Would love another Jim Melrose playing for us now
  • Bangkok behave! Joe McLaughlin? Despite the level he played he was one of the worst CHs to pull on the shirt. On a level with Paddy McCarthorse. Would seriously rate Faye and Goldthorpe higher.

Whoever suggested Matt Holland must have been the kitman. Barbe I don't think ever played for 1st team but was decent.

Dennis Rommedahl. Wasted talent, used wrongly by all managers bar Dowie, ironically.

Ball was always played to his feet when it should always have been played slightly ahead of him!!

I always rated Frazier Richardson also thought Andy Todd was decent. Gary Rowett looked class before injury got the better of him.

    Mark Fish.
  • Seen his name mentioned a few times, but Mark Reid was a superb player for us for a long time.

Very rarely got a chasing, and for our first three seasons in the old Div 1, I cannot remember him missing a game.

If he had been playing now, he would have fifty caps for Scotland, in those days he never got close.
