Just had a "meet n greet" with Francis Rossi and 2 hours of acoustic tunes ! And pleased with myself as just got 2 really good tickets for Morrissey at the O2 for 2026! Another one I have always wanted to see live ticked off.
Yeah, I got 3 tickets this morning after we vowed never to see him again.
Let's hope the Wrexham KO isn't put back until 8pm.

As a perk of having a Blue Light Card, they do free tickets to events where you only pay the venue fees. Managed to get 2 tickets worth £160 to One OK Rock at The o2 next Wednesday for £8.50.

A few lined up now for next year with tickets Richard Ashcroft at The O2, Kasabian at Finsbury Park and Gorillaz at Spurs all sorted. Possibly Tame Impala too.

Still have Paul Weller/Primal Scream/Inhaler at Troxy and Madness/Squeeze at The O2 this year.
I just got Richard Ashcroft tickets for the o2 in March.
He announced Ally Pally Park this afternoon as well for Friday 17 July.
Tickets purchased, hopefully Shed Seven supporting.

The Vapors last night at 229 Great Portland st , really nice venue practically next door to the tube station , Bit of a disappointing night , the band had a new drummer and he played so loud you could just make out the vocals .
Also in support Class of 79 , Punk & New wave classics , Brilliant stuff .

  • Saw Robert Forster last night at the Union Chapel. Seen him loads of times before (solo and as part of the Go-Betweens). He had a backing band last night, three young Swedish blokes, and he seemed to be rather overpowered by them. There was a good audience reaction, but there was something missing for me.  Seeing the Magnetic Fields at the same venue on Tuesday.
  • Saw the Magnetic Fields, playing the first 35 songs of their 69 Love Songs LP, at the Union Chapel last night (they're playing the remaining 34 songs tonight but I'm not going to that). I love the band but they were disappointing. The sound quality was terrible and they lacked lustre. Probably tired after a lot of touring. And I'm not sure that I like this business of playing whole LPs, which there seems to be a lot of these days. I'd rather not know which song is coming next.

If anyone has tickets for Public Service Broadcasting at the 8pm November 1st gig at the Barbican and can’t use them, let me know. Happy to cover all costs and a few beers if they’re available. Thanks, Tel

Patti Smith was wonderful yet again on Monday at the Palladium.  50 years of Horses, the album that changed my life!  We even got to see Johnny Depp (in the hat) join for the encore of "People Have the Power".
  • Saw The Last Dinner Party at Circuit, Kingston. They have something special about them.

Finally getting to see Feeder on 24th in Cork.
I should have seen them in the early 2000’s as they were due to perform at the Rugby League grand final (back in the day when the band used to do a good few songs pre match). But it was monsoon rain and they couldn’t play.
    I can’t fecking wait 🤩
  • I saw Of Monsters and Men, which I would describe as a folk-rock band. They come from Iceland are a bit different, although some of their stuff is a bit samey. They were showcasing their new album which always makes a gig tougher, as the audience often await their old favourites. By no means a 9 or 10 out of 10, but a thoroughly enjoyable, slightly short set at Concorde 2, Brighton.

I bought a ticket to see them at Brixton Academy a few years back (and yet I hadn't).
I had this feeling as I was about to leave the house that I'd got their name wrong.
A quick google and I had a ticket for Of Mice and Men by mistake (who I'd describe as thrash metal).
I went regardless but didn't enjoy it.

  • Recent Gigs:

Gregory Alan Isakov (Hammersmith Odeon) - 9/10
    Todd Rundgren (The Palladium) 7/10
Suzanne Vega (Royal Albert Hall) 9/10
  • For those interested, I hugely recommend Dartford Folk Club. Very varied programme of events, not just ‘trad folk’.
We meet every Tuesday evening at Dartford Working Mens Club. Membership is £15 per year, then just £8 each night… or you can pay £12 to go adhoc without being a member.
The Working Mens Club typically have 10 real ale/craft beers available at £3.90 a pint. Also real ciders etc.
All round great value for money and great evening out to hear and support live music.

Bob Vylan at the Forum last night. Ran the guantlet of protests on the way in 😴😴😴

Musically a great show, but 2 songs dropped from the setlist as rants and political speeches took over.

Crowd was noticeably different and I think there were a lot of post Glastonbury tourists there.

Hopefully the tourists mean they make a bit of cash.  They have been gigging relentlessly for years, always been entertaining and thought provoking and deserve a bit of a windfall.  I am sure that is no way connnected to why they caused the outrage in the first place.

If the liable action they won against the Manchester Evening News is anything to go by (they claimed they were giving Nazi salutes during guided meditation and stretching) they are in for some significant windfalls!

I was there on the Sunday!  I saw her do the original Horses tour at the Roundhouse in 1976 supported by the Stranglers.  Also saw her at the Roundhouse when she did the 40 year anniversary in 2015.  Always gives it all!

Saw Patrick Watson at the Troxy (near Limehouse) last friday (7th November).  Hadn't been there before - great venue.  He did a fantastic concert with a couple of guests and one of the best light/lazer shows I've seen for a long time!  He's not exactly mainstream but it was sold out!

I saw Gong and Henge on their joint Sounds of The Cosmos Tour last week. I don't know anything much about Gong, but they were very good and kept us well entertained for an hour or so. Henge were literally out of this world, best live act I've ever seen in a long while. If you get the chance, do yourself a massive favour.

  • At Dartford Folk Club (Dartford Working Mens Club) this coming Tuesday:

    Ranagri
    https://ranagri.com/

    £12 entry. Beer £3.90 a pint. Starts 8pm.

Love Gong mate. Seen them a few times. They’re not exactly Gong now although some links to the past. Daevid Allen was Gong really.

I love Kavus the guitarist he’s also in Cardiacs. And in a band with Steve Davis believe or not. Steve is a massive prog fan. I bumped into him at  a Steve Hillage gig a few years ago.
