By chance I caught the Xmas special the other day when her character nana passed away. Very funny and she was part of what for me was one of the funniest comedies and great writing given it was only ever people in a room.

The scene when they phoned Nana up when the baby was born but had to ring back because coronation Street was on cracked me up, because that's exactly what my gran would do. The similarities didn't end there.

Amazing actress, loved her in Vicar of Dibley too. Can't argue with 95, but RIP

I think @Bigbadbozman has it right. All we seem to have written this year.

A full life, well lived & she entertained us and made us laugh...although I'd steer clear of her recipes from Dibley! Rest in Peace Liz.

Quite right about the Royle Family, right up there with the very best like Smoking Room or Talking Heads for single-set comedies.
  • RIP a great actress and a great character. At least she saw old bones.
