I bet Konsa is the most pleased person that he managed to get that hat-trick goal !
I actually thought that rant at Konsa was out of order. He is a young kid learning his trade and you have to accept that he will occasionally take the wrong option.
He needed telling that it was a really bad decision to shoot, I think it's way more important for his development than a 'well done' and a pat on the back. That said, Konsa had a very good game today and I'm sure the rant will be more than balanced out with praise. Either way, I'm sure Konsa won't lose any sleep over it.
Was that the shooting chance from Konsa that deflected JUST over? - If so I thought he had every right to attempt it as he'd created the really good opportunity for himself
Yeah that's the one, I'd like to see it again now - seeing as I thought it was so obvious that he should square it for Big Mag to tap into an empty net.
I was pointing out to my son during the game some rough challenges by Josh when he had no hope of getting the ball. That, I explained, is called softening the player up.
I thought he was superb, toss up between him and Aribo for MOM. Cant think of the last time we had a unit like him at CF, their CB's were bullied all match. When I think back to the last time we were in this shit league and we had the likes of Pawel Abbot at CF.......we are lucky to have McGinnis, lets hope we can keep hold of him in this window.

I make you right.
The match highlights shows Josh on the 6 yard line unmarked - he just needed a short square pass to put into an almost open net, like Tex did for our 3rd goal.

If we're so lucky maybe everyone can learn to spell Magennis.
I couldn't believe it when I looked up his age to find out he's only 26! Don't know why but I thought he was much older, probably because of his attitude and maturity.
I would absolutely hate to be a defender playing against him. The closed thing we've had to a Yann replacement.

I do hate this. Can we not just accept Josh for what he is, a bloody good player, rather than compare him to a previous one?
He seems like a gentle giant off the pitch but a monster on it. He is an absolute nightmare to play against. He can play in the Championship no problem. The prospect of him playing with Watt genuinely excites me. Robinson - make it so!
In regards to the tunnel jump: Johnnie Jackson said I had to do it and I said ‘what are you talking about - Think thats one good reason for keeping Johnnie around in whatever capacity we can as he's the one man here who really understands the club

Rather unfair on players like Solly and Fox who, I'm sure, are fully aware of the tradition...

It's just that it's been so long since we won a home game ; - )

I didn't mean to compare him directly to Kermorgant, as agree he is a brilliant player in his own right with different strengths to Yann.
What I meant was he has given us a presence, desire, and work-rate up front, which we've lacked with any other forward we've had since Kermorgant was sold.
The problem with Crofts, in my opinion, this season has been he's been playing in a midfield with one or two of Ulvestad, Jackson or Foley. They all do the same job, in that they try to break up play, and then play the simple pass. You then need either a box to box player (Cousins?) or a playmaker to then dictate the play. Without this, the midfield will just get swamped, as we have seen repeatedly. Crofts' upturn in form coincides nicely with playing alongside an energetic Aribo and or Konsa. They are youngsters, however, and will blow hot and cold. That's why at least one more centre mid is a necessity this window, to allow Aribo and Konsa to mature and develop and be taken out of the firing line when low on confidence.

I notice in that article that he really rates Croft. That flies in the face of what some of us think on here.
It's a team game and all about the blend.
It has been obvious for most of the season that Crofts now needs pace and energy alongside him to function effectively as, at 32 or whatever he is, that is what he lacks and is why he no longer plays in the Premiership or Championship. JJ (God bless him) at 34 and Foley, also over 30 could not compensate when selected in the same midfield and the team suffered accordingly.
That said Josh is hardly going to say that any of his colleagues are crap in a press interview. The positive will always be accentuated.
For a lad who was a keeper until his mid teens that was a well taken treble by big Josh.
To play Crofts, Jackson and Foley in midfield together has been one of the most embarrassing thing to witness this season and was unfair on the 3 players. Crofts with young legs around him and suddenly he is hitting forward passes and not just sideways and back. The one thing i expect from a Head coach/manager at CAFC is to be one step ahead of me not one step behind in their understanding of League 1 football. After the bizarre situation when Robbo waited until the 90 minute to put 2 forwards on in his 1st match when we were drawing at home he does seem to have a plan for how he wants Charlton to play.
What Karl does in this window with his dealings with the owner will determine the second half of this season, and if we have a chance of going for a play off position or more !
One of the most fluent and articulate interviewees we have had for many a year. been interviewed a few time now and he is on point with everything. I have a feeling he might make a decent manager one day.

Great as it was to watch on Monday, don't forget that he did bugger all against Millwall.

While Josh raged at him, Konsa just grinned.

I was well made up for him at the time he got his hat trick but even more so now. Didn't realise it was his first one ever.
I stumbled on this interview he gave a while back about playing for Northern Ireland (Oct-15), speaks volumes about his character I think:
