....all now been 'gentrified' by plastic Londoners, no doubt
I'd contest that, but if you're used to 'spoons prices, the cost of a round can be eye-watering in some of these hostelries.
Just out of interest, how much does an average pint cost these days?
I remember years back having some breakfast in Spoons in Rochester and them having a poster on the sandwichboard with a round of about 10 different drinks if bought at 4 or 5 local NAMED boozers with the Spoons prices at the end. I can't remember exactly how much the difference was as it was a long time ago, but it was massive, £16 in Spoons Vrs about £24 in the next cheapest pub does comes to mind. Race to thdo bottom
Seven. Considering most of us live or work near London we haven't done that many have we
Walk past em all at some point or another, but I was on the sites up town mostly, so rarely had a drink. The only boozer I remember having a good drink in after work anywhere near the city was The Globe at Moorgate.
Definitely 5....could be more, walked from Eltham to the City and may have popped in to one of the Wapping ones. Went to the Nags Head last year but it was so packed we decided to give it a miss.
I've done 10 - all of them except the Nag's Head in Belgravia.
I'm pretty sure I had a quick butchers at this book, 'Great Pubs of London', whilst in Daunts Books just before Christmas. The other 11 pubs featured included, amongst others, Ye Olde Cheshire Cheese, The Cross Keys and, I think, Ye Olde Mitre Tavern and the Jamaica Wine House.

Rare to get change out of £5 for a pint/bottle of lager although cannot think of a PUB that it costs more than £6 for a lager

Blackfriar most lunchtimes when worked at BNY Mellon round the corner.
4 definitely,
3 probably,
possibly more
Edited to add a useless bit of trivia: The Grapes in Narrow St. was (still is?) owned by Sir Ian McKellen.
I've definitely been to 6 and I think probably 7 of them.
