Not odd but mainly invention of necessity. Really fancied a bacon sarnie but we had no bread. We did have croissants though, so I baked the croissant whilst cooking the bacon then cut the croissant in half and stuck the bacon in, never would have guessed how great it tasted. Probably awful for the arteries though.

Have done similar, but with hot cross buns. Surprisingly tasty in a good way.
  • Not a sandwich but a friend of mine has just posted a picture of her latest culinary creation - chocolate covered cauliflower.

Fortunately she's 1200 miles away so I'm not going to have to try it.
  • a fried egg with salt and pepper in white bread - crazy eh!
  • I knew a family that eat shepherds pie sandwich.
  • Another mashed potato option!
  • Tom sauce and Frenchs mustard in finger rolls...
    Branston sauce and butter
  • I appreciate the warning in the thread title. However suggesting there is just one weirdo on this thread is undercooking it slightly.
  • Thanks all contributers.... my Brussels Sprout and Marmite thread kick off only proves I have led a really sheltered life....
  • I think you're all a sandwich short of a picnic.

Living in the wonderful borough of Wigan. They have pie butties here. Literally, a pie stuck between two slices of Warburtons
  • Beetroot and mashed potato is one of Mrs MAM's favorite sandwiches.

    Divorce is an option.
  • Clubbed seal with grated puffin.

I'm torn between putting this on the Jokes thread or here, but I'm plumping for this thread so here we go:

    What's a seal hunter's favourite drink?

    Canadian Club on the rocks.
  • Dairylea and hundreds and thousands
Are fish finger sarnies with tartar too mainstream?

They're not just mainstream, they're trendy.

    Human remains and Tabasco Sauce
  • After nearly half a lifetime as a vegetarian the weird thing about the sandwich I sometimes crave is that I still crave it.
Open a tin of salmon and remove the biggest bits of bones. Lightly mash the rest with balsamic vinegar and ground black pepper.
Place on ultra fresh ultra soft white bread spread with slightly salted proper butter, add some freshly washed clean and dry leaves of proper round lettuce.
Never again in my conscious life will I eat such a sandwich, but oh what a treat in my money short family growing up.
I didn't know how poor my family were until the other boys at my Grammar school laughed at the lunch sandwiches my mother made for me, water sandwiches.

As in from 'Milkshake' the Kelis song milkshake?
  • Today's specialty was a ham and mushroom omelette between two slices of homemade bread. 30 calories can't grumble at that
  • Large sausage roll in baps is good for me.
  • Eagle. Delicious.

And for those who want to know what it tastes like, it's a bit like swan.
  • Boiled portobello mushrooms and broŵn sauce
  • Just remembered, mainly because I had it yesterday not as a sandwich though but as a kid I used to have mash potato and brown sauce sandwiches.
  • Not sure I've ever actually given a flag out on here, this thread has been the hardest temptation yet. Some of you are fucked up.
