If Bairstow gets a big score today then Roy really will be under pressure especially if he draws a blank against Bangladesh.
But if they drop him, who would open? ... Root ? Actually think we would be a better team with Bairstow in the side, I think he's come on leaps and bounds in the past season, and is a very talented bat.

Bairstow would open - he scored 174 doing so this month in the Royal London against Durham.
But this has been a seriously poor performance today, especially when you consider that the main run scorers Bairstow, Willey and TRJ aren't first choice or even in the Champions Trophy squad!
it wont be an issue, last match of series already won, win the toss, and win game - will have no bearing on performances - lets just hope that some of the matches aren't decided by the toss in the same way - however, the fact we have lost three on the trot might mean that one is due our way.
tbh, I don't know why they aren't starting all games at 2pm - would stop all this advantage of winning the toss mullarkey- after all, all the venues now have floodlights.
Conditions were surely not THAT different first things today? It's still cloudy and close now
Disagree.
They were harder, but not 20-6 harder. If England had batted with more caution, conditions clearly would have been easier for the second half of the innings as can be seen by TRJ and the S African batsmen, and we could have at least posted some sort of challenging score
S Africa made the total easily in the end, but conditions weren't easy for them either. If England had got past 250, things could have been interesting.
Willey was by far the worst England bowler, he seems to have lost form at the moment
I'd put today down as a one off & in the main due to losing the toss, at Lords in late spring.
Similar to the Nat West 50 over final (whatever it's called these days). Whoever bats first there in early September invariably loses, due to early wickets falling from the ball movement.
Again, i dont understand why they dont have all the games starting at 2pm - i bet its all to do with tv audience in India, being that an 11am start is 4/5 pm in India whereas 2pm will be a 7/8 pm in India. Which is probably one of the reasons why you wont ever see a cricket world tournament in West Indies again. You only have to look at the posters on Cricinfo for games that dont even involve India to see where the powerhouse is.

Which is why the Surrey decision to bat first in last year's final was particularly strange and the weather was bad first up too....

"Willey, Ball, de Kock and two slips in."
