Staying in Shrewsbury

Going to drive up and stay overnight for our game on 28th.
Never been so any recommendations on where to stay i.e. is there anything around ground or best stay in centre etc.

Depending on what side of the river you are changes the way you pronounce Shrewsbury.

I lived in Shrewsbury from about 2 until 30 ish,and its shreeeewsbury not shroesbury.regarding hotels, not much around the ground but further along the A5 is a travel lodge thing but much more pleasant in the town.

Stay in Ludlow. Beautiful place.

Including the Charlton Arms which to be fair is now a bit foodie and dear but a good place to start and end a crawl.

Doesn't it have three or four Michelin restaurants......I believe so and it's reputed to be one of the finest places in the country to eat out!
Many say it's in fact "the" best place.

I know of somebody else posting on this thread that is staying at the very same place - I would say he'll probably buy you a beer - but there's no chance of that. You can probably work out who I mean.
