A massive relief, but we're nowhere near safe yet.
A bit of a shame, but we really need to beat Coventry on Friday (which would relegate them)
The scary possibility is finishing on the road at Swindon, if they need to stay up by beating us. But that can only be an issue if we gather zero points between now and then and Port Vale has another win or two between now and then.
Port Vale have a particularly daunting set of fixtures - they have to play the top three in the division (home to Sheff Utd and Bolton and away to Fleetwood), as well as difficult games at Oxford (one of the form teams post-Christmas) and Walsall.
What helps is even if Port Vale do well against that schedule, there are a few teams below us that must do even worse than us to finish out, for us to drop.

I kept telling you we were safe. I cant see 4 or 5 teams ALL getting the points needed to drag us into the bottom 4. The Swindon game should now be an irrelevance.......they will be down by then & we will be safe.
The Gills are 2 points behind us & have played a game more. Their goal difference is 19 worse than us, so they are effectively 3 points behind us. I think The Gills or Shrewsbury will drop a7 somehow we'll get a couple of wins. Charlton musn't lose to Gillingham.

What makes you think we will have such a huge turnaround on results and win two more games? What is it about the way we are playing that makes you think there will be such a massive improvement?
We are gone. There is no way we will avoid relegation - I don't think we will come close to winning another game between now and the end of the season.
Our current form has gone beyond and 3 or 4 game run. This is a rot we are stuck in for the next month
There is no way we will go down and I know how shit we are but it won't happen. Anyone who thinks it will ill offer double what ever you wanna bet if we do
What now ?
40/1 Skybet.
Got a 500 quid cheque through from Nationwide for renewing the mortgage.
We'll be further than 3 points away from relegation when the last game arrives and wouldn't surprise me if it's 6 We are playing the junk of a junk league , yes we are junk but that's cos our junk owners and management have made some reasonable footballers in to a group of junk footballers
Bury did the double over us which perhaps indicates just how poor we have been this season.
Teams in this league seem to go through runs of good and bad form. Bury have now lost 3 in a row, ditto Port Vale and both are now struggling to avoid the drop
Massive win for Gillingham yesterday, on a day when none of the other bottom half teams won, as they were on a terrible run and looking like one of the favourites to go down.
Its quite conceivable that we could send 3 teams down. We've already done Coventry & could do both Chesterfield & Swindon - but I think Chesterfield will be down at 5pm on Monday & Swindon next week.

Yes, Chesterfield are away at Scunthorpe, it's hard to see them winning that even if results go their way elsewhere.
We could send four clubs down - Coventry, Chesterfield, and then both Swindon AND ourselves, courtesy of not losing to them by enough goals to keep them up.

It would take a record collapse to drop at this point.
We would have to lose every match and Port Vale would need two wins and every team below us would also need at least one win, and some would need two.
Not impossible but very unlikely.
I also think if a takeover is really in the works, this win moves up the announcement timetable.

The teams down the bottom are poo and we have enough about us to get results against teams in our run in

If it stays like that Bury will remain 4 points behind us, with only 3 games to play.
A much worse goal difference meaning they will have to win 2 of their last 3 games to overtake us.
(cue Bury scoring anytime now).
Bury's remaining games -
Bolton A
Northampton H
Southend A

Oldham level with Charlton on 51 points, but below Charlton on GD.
I think Oldham should be safe now.
18 Gillingham 49
19 Shrewsbury 47
20 Bury 46
---
21 Port Vale 45
22 Swindon 44
Have to think it's 2 from these 5 now. Port Vale have a game in hand on everyone else.
We should be fine but I'm not feeling comfortable unless we get another couple of points.
Port Vale 7 from 4.
Bury 6 from 3.
Shrewsbury 5 from 3.
Gillingham 3 from 3.
Not impossible that all these teams jump above us if we lapse between now and the end of the season.
