Saw Thotch at Hammersmith in 1972 when they were supporting Genesis, absolutely brilliant, stole the show.

RIP. Brian was a huge influence on Gabriel, Genesis, Bowie and lots of other acts whose names began with G. And B. Sedgeways or whatever those scooter bike things are called should be banned. Terrible way to go, especially after surviving a recent heart attack.

Absolutely gutted. Don't normally get involved with these RIPS but he was such a massive influence on me growing up.

I don't know how I'm going to live without anything new from the master and having to watch the same old Pernography.

Too young to have been into Thotch first time around but got into his later solo stuff massively. Rivalled Dylan in his lyricism imo.

I actually met Brian in person a few years ago.

I got roped into watching my 3 month old niece while my sister got her hair done. So there I am, sitting in the waiting area of a hair salon with my niece, and who walks in but Brian Pern.

I was nervous as shit, and just kept looking at him as he read a magazine and waited, but was too scared to say anything to him. Pretty soon though my niece started crying, and I'm trying to quiet her down because I didn't want her to bother Brian, but she wouldn't stop.

Pretty soon he gets up and walks over. He started running his hands through her hair and asked what was wrong. I replied that she was probably hungry or something. So Brian put down his magazine, picked up my niece and lifted his shirt. He breast fed her right there in the middle of a hair salon. Chill guy. Really nice about it.
