Your Pick For Next Manager Under New Owner (Must be available)

If you could hire any manager after this season ends, assuming new ownership, who would it be?

The caveat is they must be actually available, and not working elsewhere, or retired.

Thanks, will add "new owner" to the question. Otherwise many will answer like that.

There's only really one answer to this.

A great man who has much unfinished business at this club. He will have some rebuilding to do but if anyone can get the good feeling back into the club it's him.

Each time he returns he further cements his legend status.

    Step forward Sir Christopher Powell

    Just to play devil's advocate....

Is the choice of Powell more a case of wishing to bring back the past rather than him really being the best choice? A kind of compensation against how bad current ownership feels to us rather than the most qualified?

    Of course, Chris Powell.

I am judging him on his record too, if someone can suggest another manager who got us out of the third tier with more points then SCP managed then put their name forward.

As an aside, does this line of reasoning also mean that bringing back Varney as director of football or CEO would also be the smart move?

Any manager is available if a new owner is willing to pay compensation to their existing club.

Realistically Wenger.and Conte won't come but why should we limit ourselves to unemployed managers.

Nathan Jones has been gone too long and is a good young coach now with management experience.

Kenny Jacket is experienced at this level and can build a team.

Simon Clark would be the continuity coach and Jason Euell the same. Too soon for Jackson IMHO.

If the new owners have money to burn and want to make a splash then Ranari but doubt he'd come.

And we could do a lot worse than Powell.

No it's not looking back, it's a case of wanting to bring on a new and positive future. We need someone with a proven track record, Chris Powell has that. We need someone who is incredibly positive because it's going to be a really tricky job, Chris Powell is that. Most of all though, we need someone who understands the club, the fans and what Charlton Athletic is all about. There is no football manager on earth better placed than Chris Powell for that.

The facts that it would right a wrong regarding his unfair dismissal and that it would be one in the eye for Two Shats, would just be bonuses.

    Chris Powell.

    Close thread.

We will need somebody with a Charlton connection to galvanise the fans and the players together.

Bring Powell back and have Jackson and Dyer making up the three man team.

We need a Charlton man here.

Give him some money and let him finish the job he started.

Chris Powell. Easy choice. However he would also need a similar player recruitment team to his last stint at manager.

    Disagree.

We need a good manager, a good coach, a good motivator, someone with a good eye for a player.

If they have been at Charlton before then fine but it's not essential.

That is a fair comment, Powell would fit the bill with what you have said though.

We do need a Charlton man. When was the last time we were remotely successful without one? Sir Chris Powell please.

If I could pick anyone and they would willingly come and take on the job, then I'd vote Curbs. I don't care that he has been out of management for some time, he could still come and do an excellent job. He knows how to build a team, he knows how to manage a team, he knows what the club means to the fans and as much as I love Chrissie Powell, Curbs was a much better manager. Maybe CP could come as his No 2

Let's hope there will be a takeover and whoever gets the managers job is competent and is backed 100% by the new owner.

Would like to see someone connected to Charlton in the hot seat , so I'd like a management team of :
    - Jackson & euell as a curbs/gritt type duo (Jackson player manager)

With someone like Lennie Lawrence/curbs/peacock as DOF/Managerial adviser

would be good to bring In Either Shaun Bartlett or Herman Hreiðarsson (Even a certain Jorge costa!) to form the rest of the managerial side. Give them a chance to get propper English management under their belt as well as bringing an 'charlton viewpoint' with them , all three having managerial experience
