  • Hopefully the players find some guts and balls and play in a way fitting of the evening. 3-1 win. Jacko late goal to calm any lingering nerves after a Holmes brace.

Just hope the PR department does not hijack the commemorative aspect for short term gain and Gobby does not refer to it in his pre-match waffle.

He will - but just leave out the sub titles and most of us will have no clue.

Difficult for me to comment...as been out of country but on recent form 1-1. My first game in over 2 years and coming only to honour PC Keith Palmer. It would be good to see a win though!!! May see some of you later this evening.

If we lose tomorrow and the shrews beat millwall we really will be in the s##t.
    Another 1.1 draw

F me that will only be TWO points. Yikes!
But hey lets not think like that.

Same as many others - not been for ages and coming to honour PC Palmer above the football. Going to be strange leaving after the game - will have a look around as it could be a long, long time until I am back. 24 years of having a season ticket - and a combination of waiting till they are out and weekend commitments around my sons kart racing means I will be Charlton-less next season for the first time since I was 12.

As for the game, relegation is going to be a real shock to so many people who really cant see it coming imo. We will lose tonight, and find ourselves a couple of points above the relegation zone, with relegation form, and a good few games still to go for us to drop into the bottom 4.

    2-0 defeat tonight for me.

I expect us to be inspired by the occasion, and get a much needed win which will give us a bit of breathing space

Shrewsbury play Millwall tonight. If the Shrews win and we lose, they go to within a point of us...

  • I expect us to win - not sure why? If we can't raise our performance tonight then we're f***ed!

Just put a fiver on Charlton 6-1 MKD I get the feeling this is going to be that weird game of the season we smash out the park, like CAFC 4-0 WHU in the final Prem season or when we finished 9th first season back in the championship.

Oh shite... I've just realised we haven't had one of those games since Duchatelet arrived :disappointed:

The players clearly haven't been playing for the manager. I hope they play for PC Keith Palmer and provide the result he deserves.

I certaintly thought Robinson needed more time to solve our problems but defensively still very poor and hasnt changed our game plan to grind out results.
Can't see results changing, so a 1-1 draw for me. Would love to see us win, especially in rememberance of PC Palmer.

The PC Palmer tribute thread appears to have been sunk so will post these here
    ------------------------
A number of Keith Palmer's colleagues will join players on the pitch to pay tribute on Tuesday evening
22 Police officers will pay tribute to their former colleague PC Keith Palmer on the pitch at The Valley this evening ahead of Charlton’s home game against Milton Keynes Dons (7.45pm).

The game is dedicated to the memory of the loyal supporter who lost his life as a result of the terror incident in Westminster last month.

Before kick-off, PC Palmer’s colleagues from the TSG and Parliamentary Protection units will come onto the pitch and stand together with the two teams for a period of silence, while his brother will lead the teams out.

Representatives from Charlton, MK Dons and the police will lay wreaths dedicated to PC Palmer ahead of the game.

In addition, a police officer will stand outside the Valley Superstore before the game, managing a collection for PC Palmer’s family.

Members of Charlton’s coaching staff will wear specially-made armbands for the game and, as previously announced, Addicks players will wear a special shirt that will be emblazoned with hero Keith’s Police warrant number, ‘P204752’, in tribute.

The club will be donating 50 per cent of all ticket sales to Keith’s family, while the players will also be donating the entirety of their match appearance fees.

A red and white scarf had remained draped over his season-ticket seat in the East Stand and the red seat has now been temporarily replaced by a white seat, which bears his warrant number and will stay in place for the remainder of the season.

Work will then begin on placing a permanent memorial stone for Keith that will be placed alongside existing memorials behind the Sam Bartram statue at the rear of The Valley’s West Stand.

Ahead of tonight's tribute to PC Palmer it seemed right to come on here and pass on my condolences to PC Palmer and his family and of course the Charlton Family. My thoughts will be with you tonight.

    Kind regards

    Steve"

Vital game for the club and Robinson. A win gives us enough breathing space and, crucially, a morale boost. Anything else and both Charlton and Robinson are starring over the edge of the precipice.

This is the kind of League 1 match we should be winning in our sleep. But it's been months since we looked at any game as a three-point banker.

I'm getting Flashbacks to a similar promise a fan made involving Marvin Sordell and a Hat-trick

    Any indication of ticket sales?
  • A heavy defeat tonight would raise Charlton's chances of relegation but that aside the result will be almost entirely irrelevant. There is only one order of business this evening and goals for or against won't matter. If I were Robbie Neilson I'd be rubbing my hands together, I'd reckon a good few of the fat scouse gobshite's former players will also be looking forward to getting one over him. This looks like a walkover for the visitors. So long as franchise fc aren't too clinical in front of goal, an away win by fewer than 4 goals will do fine. I'd be delighted if gobby's squad played to something like its potential but it's managed that for about 20 minutes in total so far and nothing about tonight is likely to help the ragtag rabble of chumps and charlatans raise their collective game.

In that case it'll certainly be worthwhile!

Obviously I know it's not a likely pay out but at 200/1 on Coral... It's a worthy risk  (There are better markets but I'm only signed up to coral)

If it does actually come in, I will donate 50% to the upbeats.

They are not looking anything very special. Probably a bit more than a normal midweek, especially recently, but unless there is going to be an unmanageable walk-up I would dial down the expectations.

Was always going to be the case. The club couldn't overly promote it otherwise it would look like acting in self interest.

In hindsight, I think us as fans and various supporters groups could have done more to swell the crowds but it's such a sensitive and emotionally charged situation it was always going to be difficult.

There are 10 or so of us all returning to our old season ticket seats tonight for the first time and that means a lot personally.
