Hants are effectively 8 down as Fidel Edwards has injured his shoulder and will play no further part.
  • Should (ho ho) get a win here, plus some valuable bonus points. Though I won't count my chickens, not least because of the weather
  • 18-0 to 18-5 is shocking batting no matter how much the ball is moving. Need the weather to stay good for them next two days and should get the win.
  • Hants finished with 115, Jamie with a Michelle. Current struggling on the follow on with 40/3

    50/5 now.
Porter 2-12 in his 8th over.
  • Good stuff.

Will get carted round the pitch now !!

Hopefully Sanga wont get a big score !!!
  • Surrey 9-2

    Quinn with both wickets
  • Surrey now 28-4.
It was 17-4 at one stage. I am now going to spend the rest of the day at the County ground and top up my sun tan.
  • Porter called up to England Lions squad

    ENGLAND LIONS
Jamie Porter of Essex has been called into the England Lions squad for the closing stages of the Royal London One-Day Series against South Africa A, which concludes in Northampton on Monday.

Porter replaces Steven Finn following his call into the England squad for the ICC Champions Trophy.

The 24-year-old was selected for England cricket's Pace Programme in Potchefstroom last winter after a second consecutive strong season for Essex in Division Two of the Specsavers County Championship, and has played a key role in their successful return to Division One this season taking 24 wickets in five matches at an average of 22.
  • Have been waiting for this to be official since Friday!
  • Well played Jamie! His form demanded it :)
  • Congratulations!

He's bowled consistently well since he broke into the Essex 1st X1
  • We are all chuffed and proud.

2nd top wicket taker in Div 1 before this round of games which Essex are not playing in.

  • Essex about to take part in the fist One Day semi final against Notts. Essex ill need to be at their best, as the Notts team is incredible:

MJ Lumb, AD Hales, MH Wessels, SR Patel, BRM Taylor, SJ Mullaney, CMW Read*†, SCJ Broad, JL Pattinson, JT Ball, HF Gurney

Essex Team: AC Cook, V Chopra, T Westley, RS Bopara, RN ten Doeschate*, Ashar Zaidi, JS Foster†, SR Harmer, PI Walter, N Wagner, JA Porter

Essex are at home, won the toss and are batting first.

Captain Cook 32 off 22 balls so far
  • 195-3 off 31

    Cook 102 n.o.
  • 246/3 after 38 overs
Tendo hit the last over for 21. Notts managed over 400 last game so a biggun is required
  • Waiting for one of you two to start saying 'come on you eagles' can't believe Surrey fans still get the Palarse tag when you lot are around! ;)
  • Shoo, Nigel. Shoo.

Gave you a lol but it was nearly a flag!
  • Essex finished on 370 with ten doeschate and cook scoring tons. A very good score which Notts will do well to chase
  • I dont know - Notts have had a few scores over 400 last two seasons in this comp.
  • Essex is a small ground as well... Will need to bowl well
