Gerald Ratner cost his company £500m just by saying "because it's total crap."

I wonder what the cost to Malexis a couple of dozen old vinegar pissers could do given the right publicity?

£55m? You ain't seen nothing yet Roland.

    You bought the wrong Club

    #notapennymore

The difference is, Ratner said the goods he was selling in his shop was crap, so no-one wanted to buy it. RD runs down Charlton but his company Malexis customers do not care about Charlton, so it has no effect

Melexis had a total revenue of €456m in 2016, so if a well planned campaign of bad publicity for Melexis caused a 15% drop in total revenues then that would be more than the value RD places on the club. Reportedly (can't find figures) 2017 has seen Melexis revenues grow significantly, so it would be far less than a 15% drop required, probably closer to 10%.

The question is, of course, would a campaign to discredit RD as a business leader result in any significant drop in Melexis revenues?

A simpler route may just be to embarrass RD and attach his ego. Billboards ridiculing him throughout St Truiden would certainly have an effect as we've seen he really doesn't like being confronted with his failures in his home town. I think at this stage it needs to be relentless, he needs to see Charlton everywhere he goes, to be made to feel the only way he can escape it is to sell the club.
  • I hope this is wrong but i think we will see out this season and then he will windup the club but keep the valley and SL

Every day I am waking up to less and less posts here, overnight. Now under 100 per night. Either the calm before the storm or the takeover is dying.

I think all this horseshit mostly just makes me feel the need to support Robinson and the team more.

They need that support now more then ever.

They really do need the fans behind them at the moment. The result at bury was as pleasing as it was surprising.

They have at least given us something.

How would anybody on here know the figure being asked for is £55m? Maybe he has told one party that to flush them out? Maybe it's a red herring - who knows?

I don’t know, how would you know there was never any due diligence at the beginning of the season?
  • He can ask whatever it he wants it’s a starting point he is not from what I understand saying that’s the finishing number

Even if “The Duche” is deluded in his valuation, surely he must have serious people advising him of the “True” value of the club?

Or is it simply, even if he did, he simply wouldn’t listen/take their opinion?

This deal will be for £1, with the buyer agreeing to repay RD £XM over a certain period. The best offer is £27M, RD wants £55M.

    How do I know?....

    Trust me.

Is he still putting £1m into the club a month like he was previously?

What I’m about to say needs to be said every time this is mentioned (RD being mentioned as putting in money). He isn’t, what he’s doing is creating debt from the club to him (staprix). He’s not putting anything in, in fact, he’s making interest on that profit, he is techniquely speaking taking money out of the club, the longer he’s in charge, the more money he is owed. With interest.
So technically he is putting it in, but then expecting the club to pay it back to him with added interest, yes?
Duchatelet will never admit that he is ultimately responsible for the failure of his idiotic football project.

He is burying our football club with debt.

I’ve got to get something off my chest and now seems an opportune moment.

Duchatelet clearly has some issues. This has been evident ever since I read of him arrogantly comparing himself with Alan Turing.
Compared with Alan Turing he is an intellectual pigmy, and anyway only a total arsehole would compare their achievement in a midsize electronics business with that of a truly great man who cut short the Second World War by at least a year and saved, conservatively, hundreds of thousands of lives.

The only reason I’m bringing this up now is because it is a measure of what we are dealing with.

We may be at a critical moment in the history and destiny of Charlton Athletic, and if so I think our only option is to take the battle to Belgium.

The figure quoted seems to be similar to the figure quoted as the debt to staprix.

One thing I am curious about is that if you are Roland Duchatelet and you agree to let somebody do due diligence, out the outset wouldn't there be a ballpark figure 'understanding', or at least within a range? Wouldn't Duchatelet also like to know if the person they are dealing with is good for the money?

So there are a few scenarios.

One is that Duchatelet entered into things at a lower price and then surprisingly doubled it or something. I don't think that is very likely.
Another one is entering in to things with a view to selling Charlton Athletic in portions, again ballpark figures being 'understood' at the outset.
Another one is that the initial deal was started as being very contingent on a lot of things, but as a bald deal for everything the price is too high.
Another one is that the gap between what the bidder is prepared to pay, and what Duchatelet wants is dealable with, some give and take, some creative thinking, I dunno.
The 55 million figure talked of today is not really that much of a surprise is it?

Can we bore off with the numbers. None of us have a clue as to what he’s asking or being offered. Even those supposedly ITK don’t really know.
The names and numbers will be clear when the deal is done.
For now, we should just get behind Robinson and whatever team he can muster!!
