Probably already been said, but how could I not mention , sing a song for Sebbo.
I didn’t realise this was a take on a song Exeter sing about one of their players who passed away.

Always gets me when I see a video of this song though.
I think we ‘borrowed’ it from Cardiff, who have sung it about Sala ever since his fatal plane crash.
  • Kenny Achampong cum bi ayre

    at The Dell circa 1988.
  • Derby away just before lockdown.

Their drummer stood in front of the stand and was a big lump. Had it all, you fat bastard, he's got a pie in his pocket.

But my favourite when he stopped, was " hes out of breathe, he's out of breathe"
  • Has 'Dennis is our Leader' appeared yet?
    I used to love that.
In photofit fashion I described his curly hair and black rimmed glasses to a friend at school who could draw better than me, and then spent a year with his 'portrait' on one of my school books.
Whenever I saw him at a match, I was kind of starstruck.
    Dennis had iconic status.
He was at Burton yesterday .
  • I'm not sure we've ever originated a brand new chant, they all seem to be borrowed and modified

I do think that VFR means a LOT more to us than Forest's version does to them though, as a song about a ground means far more when you've lost the ground, and are longing to have it back

    Yippie-yi-o...

Villa sing a variation of that.

Can anyone please fill in the blanks of the Elliott Lee song?

I know the “he goes by the name of Elliott Lee” bit….
Never mind the blanks can someone tell me why Lee is being compared to Pele?

I know, Pele was a fraud and Lee is quality.

Glad he’s still about. I think I read somewhere he didn’t go for a long time as he was looking after his sick mother.

The original song (for Wayne Rooney?) has the Pele reference

Was certainly around in the early 70’s but not sure of the origin

I have never known where the Yipee ya ee came from?
    explanation please?
I assume from Villa, who used to sing a full length version but now just two lines of a chorus ‘yippee I a, yippee I o, Holte Enders in the Sky’

Based off an old 40s song called Riders in the Sky: A Cowbow Special. Been covered by Johnny Cash, Elvis and Tom Jones

  • Full version they used to sing in the 70s and 80# was:

As I walked down to Villa Park one dark and dusty day,

I spied a poor old City fan running far away,

I said to that poor City fan, it looks like you must die, ‘Cuz you have seen the glory of … Holte Enders in the sky

Yippeeh aye aaaayyyy yippeeh aye ooohhhh, Holte Enders in the sky.

We chased him through the terraces, we chased him down the streets,

But little did that City fan know that death must be his fate,

‘Cuz Villa fans rule Birmingham and city fans know why,

‘Cuz they have seen the glory of…. Holte Enders in the sky

Yippeeh aye aaaaahhhh yippee aye oooohhhhh Holteenders in the sky”

  • To the tune of Campdown Races

Who’s that copper with a helmet on?
    Dixon Dixon
Who’s that copper with the helmet on?
    Dixon of Dock Green.
    On the beat all day
    On his wife all night
Who’s that copper with the helmet on?
    Dixon of Dock Green!

To the tune of Distant Drums by Jim Reeves whenever away fans were spotted:

    I hear the sound
    Of Distant Bums
    Over there
    Over there
    And do they smell?
    Like ****ing hell
    Over there
    Over there

Of course there is the classic:

‘If I had the wings of a sparrow’….etc etc

A unique favourite from around the time of his third spell to the tune of the Small Faces ‘Sha la la la Lee’ was
    # Sha la la la
    Fir-marne-eee #
  • Tranmere fans just sing the Tequila song with absolutely no word changes. No idea why they do it but I find it hilarious

  • I think we need a song for our keeper, he’s winning us points at the moment.

    Theres only 1 Craig Mcgillvray,
    Only 1 Craig Mcgillvray,

    Walking along,

    singing a song

    Walking in a Mcgillvray wonderland.
  • Note to the grammar police - Doesn’t really matter if I’ve spelt his surname wrong as it’s a song that’s sung!
  • Should pinch the David Bowie - Starman chant for DJ

There's a starman running down the right
His name is Jaiyesimi and he's fcking dynamite
  • Charltons nr 31 was sung at orient last week

Interesting because I first heard it away at Forest in 1986 after they played their Robin Hood song on the tannoy before the match.

At the end of the song they sing 'yippee-i-oo' and then we sang it as a kind of pisstake, I'd assumed.

Maybe all origins of 'yippee-i-oo' songs come from fans who'd attended an away match at Forest.(?)

Do Forest still play that song?

Sometimes I think we should sing songs about the old greats like Man U do for Cantona.

If they're in the museum's Hall of Fame then they deserve their name to be sung.

This old one for Eddie Firmani would be class.
