I'm off to Riga in Latvia in two weeks time. Going to a wedding but thought while I'm there I'll spend a couple of days looking around the city.
Has anyone been? if so is there anything that you would recommend?
thanks.

Went about ten years ago for a long weekend, and really liked it. Lots of art nouveau buildings in one quarter, and the old town is charming too. Plenty of church spires you can climb up for great views. Some Stalinesque and Soviet structures around too to balance matters! Walking around is easy. Plenty of bars and restaurants, though the stag weekend crews can dominate nowadays I think. Enjoy!2

I hadn't realised that you could apply the same thread title to Luzon. Luzon - the place not the man.2

I was there in February and thoroughly enjoyed a Saturday afternoon session at this place;

Staff speak perfect English and you can try the beer before purchasing.2 -

Great place. See the War Museum to understand how Latvia got right royally dicked over in WW11. Avoid the Stag Do clubs. Some great buildings bars and food. Take a train out to the beach. Lovely people. Riga the man was pretty good too :-)2
