    If Holmes leaves, this good signing in Mark Marshall won't really mean anything. We'll just be as rubbish as we were last season if the mission is once again to replace rather than upgrade and build. Frustratingly it looks like our pre-season transfer business is painfully slow once again too. Prepare for a few last minute loanees to fill the voids like the lack of backup full-backs we've had in the last few years.

    Um, we're in the middle of June, a bit early to judge our pre-season transfer business yet!.

    I was told that two signings would be signing on Friday. But that was changed to one. I heard it was Nathan Thompson. But it could be that the Thompson deal has fallen through.

    I think Nathan Thompson is still away on his honeymoon dickplumb it could be that what's effected that hopefully be in on Monday or Tuesday

    Still an excellent shout from dickplumb he called a signing and a signing happened even if not the person originally suspected, credit due still.

    I'm quite surprised we've already made two signings, last season we were chasing our own tail just trying to replace all the outgoing players. To be fair to the club, to have signed two players including Marshall with no significant departures right now I would have taken that at mid-June but the key as everybody else has said is how we look on August 31st not mid-June but it's a good start to build on. The more players we can bring in earlier the more attractive it looks for the likes of Maddison to join us, a domino effect if you like.

    Colin hasn't told me anything just common sense really got married 2 weeks ago today so must be on his honeymoon don't know if it's 2 weeks or 3 but guessing it's 2 and a deal was very close before he went away surely Monday or Tuesday could be a day that he comes in

    Think there was something about them mixing up Charlton with Brighton. Even that doesn't sound quite right.

    He probably saw that Colin was stalking him and it scared him off, he was just gutted that a team from Australia didn't want him instead.

    IIRC the Swindon fans were less than complementary about Thompson this season, so on that basis I'm not bothered.

    It's also a good sign if he wasn't promised a starting role, as it should mean we are attempting to build a strong squad at last.

    Good early signings. An excellent one and a decent one. The players have been in for fitness checks, unlike last season when they weren't even given a return date.

    Let's hope that we are finally being run as a proper football club again.

    I have heard that we have made an enquiry about Stephen Gleeson from Birmingham. Depends on Harry's rebuilding plans there for him to become available and Robinsons ability to persuade him to drop a division to link up with him again.
