Yes, know it well.
Great song but now a very dated word.
Lou also changed the line in Walk on the Wild side about the girls who go " Do do do".
Meanwhile a college in Canada apologised for playing Walk on the wild side as it was transphobic. Talk about missing the point.
Auntie BBC has always been both prissy and inconsistent in its attitude. In 1969 they banned the Kinks song Plastic Man because it contained the word bum. The following year a still miffed Ray Davies sang " the air pollution is a-fucking up my eyes" on Top of the Pops when performing the song Ape-man. (The sheet music shows the word as fogging The BBC appeared not to notice
The inside picture sleeve was, I believe taken in Chislehurst. Steve Neive's family home.
But there again, I believed sushi means 'raw fish' so I may well be wrong.
Back on topic, did the BBC ban Squeeze from performing Up The Junction on TOTP for the line "I give the dog a bone' and 'Pulling Muscles From A Shell' once they found out what it meant?

Why would they, those lines are in a different song ; - )
I can bore for England on this topic....I think Floyd means the inside sleeve to Armed Forces from where Olivers Army first confused the listener.....there was a picture of someone lying on a diving board over a pool if I remember correctly.

Well, they say you learn something every day and I'd never heard of either of them.
The 2 songs are of course Cool for Cats & Pulling Muscles from a shell.

Pulling Mussels from a Shell CE, come on. Unless you are getting it on with some kind of body building mollusc-girl
I never knew/I've never heard that term.
Well, I will admit that it wouldn't be the first time I have misconstrued a song lyric and made myself look a twat. But I always took it to be a metaphor for what the youngsters call "fingering".

I've never been able to discover what 'Mott the Hoople' actually means, but was told way back that it's some form of sexual activity.

D'oh! Do i get some kind of badge for making three errors in one short post?
In researching the 'banned from the BBC' concept I've had since the 80's, I found this list, which suggests any banning of either Pulling Mussels and Cool for Cats to be false. Some interesting songs on there though.

One that has been censored by the BBC recently is Shirley Bassey's cover of Party.

I wonder how many more times the Beeb will show the Pistols doing Pretty Vacant before they study the pronounciation of "Vacant".
Ditto for Happy Talk by the Captain, I'm a lucky "cuss". .?:-)
