unfortunately as others have said these stabbings wont stop until a proper punishment is started for carrying knives. would probably deter a lot from using them.
One thing I've never understood is why so many knives are milled to a sharp point. The blade will suffice to carry out most tasks, the end should be rounded and blunt.
Some kitchen tasks need a sharp point. Even if they make some knives rounded, the people carrying knives around with them would just buy the sharp ones?
To a determined killer maybe, but many stabbings are spontaneous to anger or centre around drug and alcohol abuse. Sharp, pointed knives are at hand in almost every kitchen. If the initiative to ban pointed knives had been adopted in the 70s there would most certainly be more people walking around today.
My culinary skills are questionable to say the least, but how on earth is the pointy bit useful in the kitchen?
Please note that research has been published in the British medical journal to support this.
@bbob i know it is, we have it in bexleyheath aswell, and one of my neighbours was recently nicked for having a go at one of them ( with a baseball bat ).
Imagine a kid walks out, these guys would no doubt burn away if they struck someone. Absolute morons.
As a motorcyclist I hate quad bikes. They should be banned from public roads, there is no acceptable reason they should be on the road. They're always ridden by idiots who take little or no care when burning around like they're not endangering others.

It's not a one off for them though, these behaviours are being seen more and more on Britain's streets. Kids and young adults burning round on motorbikes and quads, usually wearing little to no safety gear and creating a nuisance of themselves.
Whilst I don't doubt their mourning of losing a friend, they are still breaking laws and being purposefully dangerous and anti-social as part of gang life...
It is such a sad shame that because of this one of these guys is now dead and the whole thing comes full circle to start all over again.
As he was apparently local to Charlton I won't say anymore, as I know that some on here will have known him and I do not wish to offend them.
Two teenage rappers have been found guilty of killing Adam Chambers in Woolwich earlier this year.
Mr Chambers, who was 30, died after being stabbed in the heart with a large combat knife after arranging to meet someone to sell them drugs at the back of a block of flats on June 13.
He was attacked by a 15-year-old boy, who was seen laughing and walking away from the scene with Felou Abadja, 19, the Old Bailey heard.
The pair of teenagers were cleared of murder but convicted of manslaughter and having a blade, and have been remanded in custody to be sentenced on February 2.
Prosecutor Sarah Whitehouse QC told jurors how the defendants had been recording rap music at a studio in Blackheath earlier on the day of the stabbing.
Just before 5pm, Abadja, also known as TV, had called for a minicab to take him to Troughton Road, near to where he had arranged to meet Mr Chambers.
The CCTV showed the victim arriving on his moped and then driving off 12 seconds later.
In that time, the younger defendant, who has since turned 16, had stabbed Mr Chambers, who tried to escape on the moped but collapsed nearby.
Mrs Whitehouse told jurors: "Mr Abadja and (the youth) fled back to the minicab. They were talking and laughing but seemed in a hurry and said "let's go boss" to the driver."
Mr Chambers suffered a wound which was 20cm deep and 7cm wide and was pronounced dead before 6.30pm the same day.
After his arrest at home in Eltham, Abadja admitted being at the scene and seeing the victim fighting with the other boy but claimed he was metres away when the stabbing happened.
The younger defendant was arrested days later and a large Predator Combat knife - later found to be the murder weapon - and four wraps of heroin were seized from his bag.
The 16-year-old went on to admit having a blade in public and possession of class A drugs and Abadja pleaded guilty to having cocaine.
Giving evidence, the 16-year-old told jurors he had stabbed Mr Chambers in self-defence with the victim's own knife.

I'm with you on this, when do you EVER see a chef use the pointy end in a way that a fork or skewer couldn't do an equally good job of?
Video of what? If it is of the service... link?assume it's the one postedAs a motorcyclist I hate quad bikes. It's sad to see in this day and age that we're stuck in the late 70's where being in gangs was seen as cool and the 'in' thing to do.
