How the hell is Chris Evans worth at least 2.2 million a year. Graham Norton 900k. Ridiculous waste of money.
Chris Evans is one of the most irritating men on the planet. How the fuck is he worth even a tenth of that amount.
Graham norton is a fantastic broadcaster, I'd say 900k is cheap for some one like him who can do it on tv, on the radio and in print (although for the telegraph)
Gary Linekar, our national treasure of champagne socialism. God bless you Gary, you keep stacking your 2m a year whilst having a dig at normal people on social network for disagreeing with you about refugees, what a hero.
Sympathising and empathising with normal people who have had their homes destroyed and family brutally murdered, what a dickhead

A few weeks ago my mrs gave me a lift to the station as i had a business meeting in portsmouth. Its a 20 minute drive. She listens to radio 2 when she's not working, as she likes vine and wright. We caught the first 20 minutes of evans radio show. In all that time he never played one song, but decided that the listener would be thrilled to know what he did over the weekend, i.e go for a curry Saturday night. Total self indulgence crap, and you are paying over 2 million for that crap.

.. to promote yourself (virtue signal)
Finished it for you.
aw jeez, what an awful world we live in where people promote good causes as well as using it to promote themselves. Why can't more people like be katie hopkins and be complete c***s for attention?

Not sure what all the fuss is about to be honest. £150k a year for a celebrity is peanuts, I was expecting eye watering figures to come out.
A lot of posters on here are saying its inappropriate to spend their hard earned licence fee in this way yet I suspect a lot of you fork out £75.00 plus per month for a Sky subscription that pays the silly money footballers receive.
Average players not playing every week are earning more in one month that the top celebs do at the BBC in a year.
There are two factors that can justify the income levels of some of these people. One is that the BBC sell their products across the world (and in the UK in terms of DVD sales) and in many cases the income they receive more than pays for the production of the media. Top Gear, for example, was raising £40m a year while Clarkson et al were on it. Even if that fell in half it's still ten times what the BBC pay Chris Evans, and he also does radio too.
As for Lineker, well I like him. As a child, I spent years listening to my Dad say "He was a wonderful/fantastic/exceptional footballer" as all these pundits came on the TV. Saint and Greavsie were just two old comedians as far as I was concerned but my dad used to tell me tails of things they did etc. I couldn't wait for players, that I'd seen play, to start presenting football shows. Due to the money in the game now, and how wealthy these people are I would imagine that it would be quite difficult to get a well spoken, former England Captain, scorer of over 200 top flight goals to work on Match of the Day for much less than what Shearer earns.
As for Lineker, himself, I think he is very good at what he does, and it is not an easy job. For all those that think that all he does is just turn up and talk, think again. How many times have you been in a Pub and thought that the conversation was wandering off? To anchor a show like that - especially as you have to appeal to such a wide demographic, is not straight forward. It was noticeable when Des Lynam left that it created a void that wasn't filled until Lineker took over, in my view.
I would also go as far as to say that I think Lineker is better than any of the anchors that Sky have. I do think the Sky Pundits are better that Shearer but they earn a shed load more than him.
I suspect, though, that all of these presenters have been ratcheting their salaries up for years. Every so often a job offer comes along and they use that to force the BBCs hand.
I also think that it is difficult to compare a job that impacts on a few people with one that impacts on millions. If just ten percent of the watching public are more inclined to watch MotD with Lineker than that might justify his money. The same can be said for Jeremy Vine on Election nights - especially as we seem to have more of them these days.
The only question I have relates to the BBC and ratings. I'm not sure that a public broadcaster should be going head to head with commercial companies like ITV or Sky, but that is a different question all together.

The problem I have is when people use the word "talent" when talking about Chris Evans.
Who would stop watching MotD if Lineker left? Nobody - just show the highlights with no analysis - get rid of all of them. We can do our own analysis in the pub.

Which curry house did he go to?
I have no idea but assume it wasn't cheap. I wanted to switch him off but then the mrs bet me he would play a song before we got there. Sadly i won.
I genuinely don't think it's a coincidence that the government announce they're extending the pension age for a load of people at the same time as this.

It's still better than the alternatives.
