Is it just me have or have C.A.R.D, WAR and the belguim 12 or whoever they are sort of died down this pre-season, I can remember a CARD announcement at the beginning of last season saying all protests would be put on hold whilst Slade is given a chance, I wonder if we can expect the same this year.
I think personally there seems to be an whole different feel this season, I know there will still be the die hards who will never forgive and forget and but I'd like to know the odds on the covered end singing there only one Katrien Mierie at the end of the season!

You're right. I am so glad someone else noticed it. They do seem to have gone a bit quiet, over the Summer, since the end of the football season, coinciding with the time when there are no games at The Valley, or anywhere else, at about the time when football seems to be off the back pages.

I hope so.
I don't think there's a different feel at all. Robinson seems to have more of a say in things but he is not really calling the shots I don't think. Granted I don't think we will see a return of network players being foisted on us but were the sales of Tex and Ceballos football decisions for the benefit of cafc? Name one player we have signed in pre season who excites you. We still have a late in the day loan goalie like last year. On the plus side we kept Holmes and haven't sold Konsa yet.

They will definitely sing a song about Katrien, not sure you'll like it though...

Good point and don't get me wrong I realise myself and a lot of other fans are looking at things through rose tinted specs and leapord wont change its spots. I cant help but feel a positive vibe around the place though

It's just a little bug you've picked up more commonly known as new seasonitis, don't worry it'll soon pass and then it'll be bonfire night followed by a new manager then Christmas .
Has Roland gone? Is Katrien still at The Valley? Is the squad still under strength? Despite fans saying not a penny more, are some of the main faces within the group still attending every home game, buying ST's?
I don't think CARD have ever said to people not to go, or not buy season tickets. It's a choice that is made by fans based on how they see things as individuals. The fact that so many have not renewed may be because they are all following CARD in doing what CARD haven't asked for, or it may be that a lot of fans have made their own minds up after the crap served up over the last few seasons. I swore I wouldn't be back after being suckered last season, but of course I am thinking about it because I've got the same excitement about the new season and am wearing the same rose-tinted specs. Personally I think the in-match protests have probably run their course, and Belgium is where the focus should be, but I am merely a foot-soldier.

I would say all the signings look like they will improve the squad and both Mark Marshall and Tariqe Fosu excite me. I am also pleased by the set up with Bowyer and Jackson working with Robinson and as you say keeping Konsa and Holmes has to be a positive
Only a tiny statement but I shall be wearing my CARD shirt on Saturday, and probably at every game this season until they're gone. If they go. I have no dilemma supporting the team at the same time.
P. S. Is the training ground finished? Is there a target finishing date?

For possibly getting us promoted to where we were before their shitshow took over? Yeah let's sing her fucking name and have a party. Div

No, it's a long way from finished, a good year yet I thought for this phase.
I can't speak for CARD but I would have thought that any major protest will take place in Belgium as they seem to be more effective as he doesn't like it because it embarrasses him in his home town where he likes to think he is a respected citizen, but actually isn't.
Also, it would make sense if CARD stood back a little while longer to see how the takeover 'talks' pan out. I'm not saying talks are on-going but there is definitely interest out there and stuff going on beneath the radar.

We must be due another regurgitated training ground story any day now.
I am sick of hearing àbout so called takeover stuff happening. I am assuming this nasty, plastic and shallow regime will remain. If we get taken over, good, season tickets will be bought straight away. However for me my only personal resistance is to question absolutely everything, take nothing for granted, and to be vigilant and critical where appropriate. The bridges are burned and any rebuilding needs to start from the regime's side of the river, and so far my take is their watchword is distain for the fans and the ethos of the sport. Promotion this season would be only the first step in any outreach from the club towards the fans, not the final destination.
If the team gets promoted - and not one Charlton fan wants any other outcome - we will only be where we should be. It would be nothing more than a start though - it has always been in the owner's gift to stop the protest, and that has been to quite simply run the club properly with some ambition and common sense.
The volume of the protests will correlate with the performance of the team. If I was Roland I would be bringing in a few more in terms of insurance to ensure it does improve as another season like last season and it is not going to be great for anybody.

This is exactly what I don't get. Promotion will be celebrated as success for the regime, yet all they'd be doing is getting us back to the level they found us at. Let's not forget we finished just three points outside the playoffs the season before Duchatelet and Meire turned up. Three points behind Leicester City nonetheless.
Six of the eight teams that finished above us that season are or have since been in the Premier League since. That's without counting Burnley, who finished two places and four points below us.
2012 / 2013 final Championship table, the last full season before Roland Duchatelet and Katrien Meire took control of Charlton Athletic:
1.Cardiff City 2.Hull City 3. Watford 4.Brighton 5.Crystal Palace 6.Leicester City 7.Bolton Wanderers 8. Nottingham Forest 9. Charlton Athletic 10. Derby County 11. Burnley
Four of those are current Premier League teams and one of them, Leicester City has won the Premier League. Another, Crystal Palace has undergone a partial takeover.
Roland could have easily made his money back by now.
All Duchatelet and Meire had to do was keep moderately progressing Charlton and the worst we'd be is a mid-table Chamionship side. Instead, they ripped the squad apart for a quick buck and created a farm for their failed network of sub-standard, minor European league footballers and finished mid-table in League One last season, 28 places and one division below our last final finishing position before they arrived.
2016 / 2017 final Championship table, the last full season with Roland Duchatelet and Katrien Meire took control of Charlton Athletic:
1.Sheffield United 2.Bolton Wanderers 3.Scunthorpe United 4.Fleetwood Town 5.Bradford City 6.Millwall 7.Southend United 8.Oxford United 9.Rochdale 10.Bristol Rovers 11.Peterborough 12.MK Dons 13.Charlton Athletic

Pitches look good though,
