Following on from Henry's thread about the Ha'way The Lads event at the White Swan on 11th September, I thought that perhaps a wider thread for the Free Film Festival would be an idea. The second Charlton & Woolwich Free Film Festival runs from Friday 8th to Saturday 16th September and we have an incredibly varied programme this year, which really does include something for everyone. We've got some amazing venues too, including Charlton House, The Stables in Charlton, The White Swan, Building 10 at the Woolwich Arsenal and the amazing Royal Garrison Church at Woolwich Barracks. This latter venue sees an opening air screening of the film Battle of Britain, aptly on Friday 15 September - Battle of Britain Day. The film is being screened at 7.45pm but before that, at around 6.15pm, some bloke called Steve Hunnisett will be guiding a short guided walk, starting from the church, at which we'll be looking at something of the area's wartime past. There will also a brief introduction to the film before the screening. There will be a licensed bar, courtesy of the London Beer Factory and hopefully food as well. As it is an open air event, you will need to check out the forecast before coming along and dress appropriately for the weather , but in true Blitz Spirit fashion, the show will go on whatever the weather.
As the title of the Festival suggests, all of our events are free and on a first come, first served basis. I've included a link to the festival website below, so we'd love to see you at one or more of our events.
