So hold on. Mcgenniss our only recognised striker is out jollying it up with NI?
    Is that right?
So who's playing up top tomorrow then??

    Dodoo
    I agree. Pretty shit situation.
  • What a game, brilliant innit!
  • I'm not sure I've seen a worse England team than this, not just tonight but the last year or so.
  • What a fantastic game, must be the best England team in decades.

It's inevitable. What talent pool has the manager got to pick from? Out of all the big clubs only Tottenham have English players as key components. Lallana at Liverpool is a class player but that's it.

Delle Ali reminds me of David James. Working on instinct he can do some great things. Given time to think, he will invariably make the wrong decision
  • Very flattering scoreline considering how badly we've played but a wins a win I suppose.
  • Easy win. Back the team
  • Very flattering... On a par with the Andorra game under McClaren when it was 0-0 at HT and we went on to win 3-0

  • Oh come on boys, it was a brilliant performance.
  • Highlight of the match was this fella on twitter putting our pitch invader threat to shame
  • You can all thank me.

I go out to buy milk at 1-0 and come back to 4-0
  • Never in doubt, comfortable victory. I'll settle for that scoreline at Boundary Park tomorrow
  • I think Raheem Sterling has been part Arsenalised

I think Raheem Sterling has been part Arsenalised

    circumsised
  • After that we must be favourites to win the World Cup now
  • Unimaginative and boring. Too many negative passes with no 'game breaker' in the England midfield.
  • The flukiest 4-0 win you'll ever see

  • When you consider how dismal England have been it's remarkable that we are still top of this group. How one of Slovakia, Slovenia or even Scotland hasn't been able to overhaul us is embarrassing for them!
  • However poor you might think England were, they are still unbeaten in the group and have only conceded 2 goals (i think) - thats not a bad record. Its always tough for any team to break down a team that just wants to sit with 7 at the back.

Problem is we're 13th (?) in the World so apart from 12 teams (maybe a few more) every other side in the World will sit with seven at the back and hit us on the counter

Its ultimately what is stopping us from advancing to later rounds because as friendlies have proven we can go toe to toe with the bigger nations on our day... Say it all the time but we need to scrap the same old friendlies against Germany etc. and start facing some of the teams that will sit back for a draw so we can learn how to beat this sort of opposition!!
  • Possibly the least satisfying 4-0 win I will ever see.
I don't think I'll ever again watch my team win 4-0, then turn off the telly muttering 'well, that was shit'.
  • I read the secret footballer guide to modern football. He reckoned playing four defenders against teams like this is a waste of time. Might as well stick a defensive midfielder who can pass at the back (like Barca did with mascherano) and just hammer them with offensive players.

Was the anti-Charlton 4-1 Northampton game

Althroughout (when it was 2-0) I felt that we deserved to get more and when we got the two injury time goals it was as predicted... Last night when it went 1-0 I felt that would be it and when it ended 4-0 it didnt feel deserved.

We thumped them because they tired!!... no other reason

That's always the old get out clause or thee are no easy games.

England have proved consistently how inept and clueless they are and the only reason we're top is because the rest of the group are equally bad.

Is it the manager or the players, doesn't seem to matter the results always the same, totally boring football!

Other big teams face the same problem but still play good football and win. We can't go toe to toe with the big teams. Only in friendlies as those other teams are testing formations and not bothered. When we play a decent team in competitions we lose. Think back to the friendly against France. We're not good enough. You really believe Henderson and Livermore can go toe to toe with teams like France Germany Italy Brazil Argentina. No they can't. We don't have the talent so all we can hope for is a coach like Conte who can get the best out of players to come along and try and win on tactics.
  • I was a bit torn watching this match. I have Maltese citizenship. Am just waiting to receive the passport.
