Clark v Holmes (or another). Who would be your first name on the team sheet?

  • Sarr can play LB and has in the past. He was tried there in pre season. If certainly give him a go next time we lose Jay. Has more pace than Jacko and gives us extra height for corners at both ends.
  • Holmes has been booked 3 times now. Carry on like that and it won't be long until he isn't on the teamsheet at all!

Holmes is the type who needs the occasional enforced rest .. he's sometimes too brave, always too skilful and too committed for his own good ..
he takes a lot of stick, sly little kicks and scrapes and he does like to have a niggle back at opponents ..
the knack will be to choose the games(s) where he serves his sentence(s), if any, and comes back to the fray refreshed and rested ((:>)

If you have a small squad you have to be able to adapt your formation. If we were without a recognised left back for a period then maybe a 3-5-2 formation would be more suitable. I think it's one of Robinsons negatives that he will stick to his favoured formation regardless. It's in part why we had such a bad run last season under him where he insisted playing a style/formation when the available players weren't capable.

For me right now of the two mentioned Clark just edges it. Until others are fit he's a critical starter. That said Holmes bangs in some very important goals....... basically there are 3/4 critical players in the 1st 11. Any of those out right now and we'll struggle.
