    Broad at 9 suddenly makes the tail look very long. I can't imagine he'll last long against a few Starc short balls

    At one stage 330-350 looked on the cards, now 280 looks a good total. The Aussies will then get 400+ as the pitch holds nothing for our seamers & we'll be lucky to get into positive territory. All over after 4 days.

    Crane is definitely a better Batsman although his recent form has been shocking .

    Oh dear. I don't blame Bairstow for that. He should be batting higher. He is a class batsmen and wasted at 7.

    It’s been out most experienced batsmen that have dissappointed. I’m wondering if 280 isn’t such a bad score ?

    Jake Ball has taken quite a few names out of the game in the sweepstake with 13 runs in an over - valuable runs at this stage.

    Up to 285 now - 300 is a moral victory from this point.

    Also, it shouldn't be underestimated how important the length of time we have batted may prove to be - especially with the number of bouncers they've bowled today which are exhausting. 29 overs from Cummins ... that could prove vital later in the test and series.

    Absorbing stuff.

    The batsmen have found it difficult to move on and get that big score throughout this tour. 50s need to become 100s a little more often at this level.

    Not sure of the rules, either @Todds_right_hook or @Callumcafc. If it's The Price is Right rules then you can't be a penny over so its @Todds_right_hook but will leave to @Addick Addict to decide.

    Looked like we'd score more at one point, and then it looked like we'd score less, but I'd suggest that's just about par.

    Great stuff from Ball, Jimmy and Broad at the end to get us over 300. Will be interesting to see how the convicts fare on this track.

    Anyway, bed for me! Fingers crossed Broad pops up with another 8-15!
