Jann-Fiete Arp......the next big thing?

Keep your eye on this lad. 17 year old centre-forward and now a regular starter at SV Hamburg. He's grabbed a couple of goals already in a struggling team and makes his own chances (very quick feet and turns superbly). Chelsea wanted him but he decided he'd stay at school (and at HSV) and do his exams.

I've watched most of his games on BT Sport and he's been VERY impressive. Yesterday, he slid in at the near post and forced an OG out of a Hoffenheim defender and later on, he weaved past a defender and arrowed a great shot towards the top corner producing a fine save from the keeper.

Apparently out of all the Strikers to emulate he's trying to take after Harry Kane rather than anyone else.

Looks more of a Robbie Fowler type than a Harry Kane type (if there is such a distinction?) but he probably wouldn't have heard of Fowler. Needs must at HSV because the other two strikers, Bobby Wood and Sven Schipplock only have one goal between them so far. Arp has two and looks like he will get more. Yesterday even Wood looked like scoring because he was paired with Arp.

PS: HSV have a fourth striker on loan at Leeds, Pierre-Michel Lasogga. He faded at HSV after a good start (he's a poor-man's Oliver Bierhoff) and has been described by HSV's main backer (Herr Kuehne of Kuehne and Nagel) as "the biggest flop ever!"

Wise choice..If he went to Chelsea he'd end up on loan somewhere else like so many of the players they sign.

I see Hamburg had to apply for special permission for him to play last night.

He is 17 and its illegal for under 18s to work after 8pm
