Powelly and that Cardiff game

Was fascinating listening to him and Curbs talk tonight and if you can catch the Facebook recording then you won't be disappointed devoting an evening to watching.

One question was asked about 'most important team talks given', and SCP said about that Cardiff game. He basically said to Dyer when we were 2-0 down 'we are out a job', and you got the impression Jimenez had been putting a lot of pressure on and Varney / Kavanagh had been acting as a supportive foil, but he said how surreal it was as the crowd showed so much support it was if we were the ones winning 2-0.

Jacko pulled something back and he said he went into that half time knowing it was the most important team talk of his career. Every player took in every word he said, acted on the instructions and we pulled it round to win 5-4. And he highlighted that as one of his most pivotal moments

Was a really special night it was a pleasure to look back on now. Miss buzzing nights under the lights down The Valley like that so bad.

Hopefully we'll get them again soon

That really was an amazing night. I almost didn’t go but at the last moment, I changed my mind ... very fortunately

This game will live long in the memory. The atmosphere was electric even when we were the two goals down but no one could say why at the time. I loved going to all the games with all my heart back then, I hope that feeling can return again soon.

BTW is there anything on Facebook of last night we can still watch or see? Or was it a live feed only?

Pressure was on Powell and the fans were showing the board their support for him. I think we played a part in that win.
No doubt at all ... fans were amazing that night, we generated far more noise than the numbers in the stadium could normally do.

    Classic.

Was buzzing so much after the game that I couldn't get to sleep.

Used to love those types of nights at The Valley.

One less remembered part of that game I recall is being under a lot of pressure in injury time at the end of the second half, I was terrified that they would score. Cardiff had a free kick, last kick off the game. A good cross came in and Hamer smashed through everyone to make a comfortable catch under a lot of pressure. He could have played it safe and let the defence deal with it but it took massive balls to take it on his shoulders to deal with it and he did it.

The last few minutes of that game were absolute agony. You didn't want to watch but you couldn't look away.

Kerkar got three assists that day I think. I didn't make it to my seat until we were two down - you know who to thank! ;)

Jesus christ you baffled me there... Couldnt understand for a moment how there were comments @ 12:59pm today, followed by two quotes in November 2012 - Thought CharltonLife had crashed before I realised it was a Screenshot

First time I’ve read the match commentary ... what a terrific read. Sounds fantastic even for those who were not there.

I'd completely forgotten that we had him in our side.
