DUDLEY FORBES

Does anyone out in Charlton Life Land have any info about Dudley Forbes, who along with Sid O'Linn were the first South Africans that Jimmy Seed brought to the club back in 1947, before Hewie, Leary, Firmani and the rest. He was a wing half and a full International and played 60 games in Division 1 before returning to South Africa. There is very little about him in 'The Valiant 500', but I believe he died in 2009. Anyone know anything more, such as what happened to him after football etc?

Don't know the player on the left. Then Albert Uytenbogaardt , Sid O'Linn and Dudley Forbes on the right.
Could be wrong but I think his first name was really Douglas.0 -

I don't know whether this is of interest but I do know that Dudley got married while over here.
I got his autograph on a newspaper clipping of his wedding and he wanted to know which paper. It was the Kentish Independent .0 -

It did cross my mind that it could be " Polly " Unfortunately he was moved on to Aldershot after being sent off for skirmishes in reserve gamesAsianZidane said:

I think it would have been in close season 1949 as the picture he signed was when they reported back for pre season training . I think he lived in Bexleyheath at the time and as it was in the KI it was almost certainly fairly local .killerjerrylee said:Thanks guys. I think Douglas was his middle name.
