Comments

  • I honestly thought we sold Vetokele
  • Interesting to see so many of the U23s out of Contract in the summer...
  • I imagine Hanlan and Umerah will be back in the first team squad for the Gillingham match, ditto RCC if he's not recalled earlier
  • Umerah hasn't featured for months. Serious injury?
  • Didn't know Reeco was in the first team squad.

I actually had a dream last night that he joined Derby for £6m.

He's getting a few appearances now and is quite often on the bench so guess its understandable... In a way more of a First Team player than Dijksteel

There isn't an official first team squad, he could be listed in either.

Same with positions, KAG is naturally a striker but has played on the left of midfield.

He knows where the goal is. Let’s hope he bucks the trend and finds ours, not theirs.
  • That's lucky....none of our strikers are currently on the injured list! So own goals should not be a problem for us!

Yeah apparently he's a long term injury after hurting his ankle.

Regarding recalling him and Hanlan, I think both of their loans are up around mid-January. Hanlan has 2 goals in 13 gamers, around 9 starts (from what I can tell). To be fair to him he is the type of player where he seems to be capable of doing more than just scoring goals, but there isn't anything in that that screams out to be "he's ready for the first team right now."

Charles-Cook on the other hand, I'd have him in the squad today.
  • I'm surprised RCC hasn't been permanently recalled, surely he'd be useful for us over the Christmas period?

Agreed. I expect around February/March we'll start to see players offered new deals for the ones clearly worth keeping, and then there'll probably be more at the end of the season. I think that's what has happened in years gone, but that's just going on memory.

Going by what others have said, it sounds like Blumberg is worth keeping around for another year. Definitely think Mascoll is worth keeping around. I also really liked what I saw of Maloney in a U23 game that was streamed.

Curious what those who see the U23s more think.

Do we know if he went back to Woking? I'm pretty sure someone posted a Tweet from him wishing them luck in their FA Cup replay, and I took that to mean that he's back with us now but I don't know.
  • I am amazed that Charles- Cook has not been recalled. I just don't understand it. We need every fit player over the Christmas period and beyond.

Yamfam and Archie Edwards will be two to go I think.

Agreed. And I know I'm borderline getting into Henry/Reeco territory, but everything I've seen of him makes me think he's good enough. And with Clarke out, we could use some hard-working cover in the attacking three. I continue to worry that we're going to let him and Dijksteel pass us by and really regret it later on.
  • Interesting to count we have a 25 man first team squad which incidentally is the permitted size of premier league squads. So have we really been left short by RD or have we just been unlucky with injuries

The squad is big enough, apart from upfront. If we had kept Novak, Vetokele and Ajose it would certainly be large enough.

Agree with the first point. On the second, was it ever possible that Igor would stay with us this year? I think he's too good for this league. And I think there are a lot of reasons why he would be skeptical of playing for us ever again.

On Novak and Ajose, both wanted to go apparently. I definitely don't think Ajose is good enough. Novak would probably have made for good cover.

We should have signed a striker in the summer rather than Best in November.

Dodoo was a panic signing to make up numbers. He doesn't play now so effectively it's a 24 man squad.

Ideally we needed a goalscoring striker and a winger/striker for more depth.
  • At least Roland will have left us with a good squad for next season:

  • Will be yet another rebuild in the summer.

Wouldn't call every injured player injury prone though. Players like Fosu have been rushed back and perhaps weren't rotated enough early on in the season.

Agreed. Has always been thus under the Regime though.
