If he's out of his crease, he's out of his crease. How far do you want to back up by.....5 yards?? , 6 ?? , 8 ??. Does the wicket keeper warn the batsman before stumping him ?? There are 2 creases & they are both "live" when a ball is being bowled.bigstemarra said:Agree re mankadding.
I also think that not warning the player in this case is a little unfair. Yes, he may be technically out, but I can't see how dismissing him is within the spirit of the game. What a shame.
If its not "sportsmanlike" to mankad someone then its not "sportsmanlike" to back up outside of your crease to seek an advantage. You can't have one without the other.0 -
I'm not so bothered about Mankading as the creases are there for a reason. Otherwise what's to stop the non striker standing next to the facing batsman when the ball is delivered!0
