Boring I know but my son has had English homework this week where he has had to write definitions of words down so the dictionary is out on the kitchen table.

Concise Oxford dictionary has the following definitions for cancer:

1a Any malignant growth or tumour from an abnormal division of body cells 1b a disease caused by this

2. An evil influence or or corruption spreading uncontrollably

3a A constellation (the Crab) said to represent a crab crushed under the foot of Hercules 3b the fourth sign of the zodiac which the sun enters around the summer solstice (21 June) 3c a person born when the sun is in this sign.

Can’t read too much into a word.
