The Kent catering staff will be in a panic at the loss all the food and drink sales they were expecting this evening!

Assuming the match is over fairly quickly, they can organise a T20 match between the sides for this evening.

    Sorted.

I wonder if Middlesex regret letting Podmore go!

It'll be interesting who Kent pick on Saturday, of the bowlers used in the semi, Haggett and Qayyum would seem to be the most under threat from Stewart, though he hasn't played any first team white ball cricket this season yet. To think that Claydon would have been a first choice player at the start of the season, and now (even if he was fit), he'd be well down the pecking order...

Congratulations Middlesex, you have now scored more, in two innings, than our number 10.

Murtagh their No 11 top scores with 40.

Amazing that their highest run scorer was their No 11, whereas ours was our No 10!

Both Henry and Stevens rested for this match. I know we've got a final on Saturday, but can we get 20 wickets without them?

    Yes

Leicestershire beat Derbyshire and are now 3rd.

Curiously our next 2 CC matches are against them...

Just three years ago, two of our promising prospects and Academy Graduates were playing for the England U19s.

One is Ryan Davies who, as most people know, left us to become Somerset 1st XI keeper but it didn't work out for him there and he left by mutual consent. He was set to play in the KCL for Bickley but has now joined Durham and is re-building his career.

The other graduate is Hugh Bernard who was released by us last year. He has now embarked on a very different path and is training as a hairdresser.

Prior to that we had Adam Ball who actually captained the England U19s and several years before that played as a 16 year old in the same side as Root and Stokes. He was also released last year and is now playing Minor Counties cricket for Suffolk.

For all three I'm sure that it hasn't quite worked out as they might have anticipated and we can only wish them every success and happiness for the future in their respective careers.

We now have young Ollie Robinson who is consistently scoring runs in the KCL and the Kent 2nd X1 and has once again been selected to play for England U19s. Having known the lad since he was a baby I am sure that he will buck the above trend and have a long and successful career.

It's anything but an easy path and the thousands of hours of training and sacrifices that got all of them to reach such great heights (and they are "great heights" compared to what 99.9% of young cricketers achieve) cannot be underestimated. I'm also sure that some of the memories of that journey are ones that they will all treasure too. Whatever the ultimate outcome.

I must say that I didn't rate Hugh Bernard when I stood in a game he played in, but he did have nice head of hair so his new profession may be well suited!

One for the future I think is Tom Davis, who plays for Canterbury, and I'm sure in his age group for Kent (he's now u17). He bowls quick, is aggressive, a fantastic fielder (with a huge throw on him!) and can bat too. He's also a nice lad. He consistently gets good players out in the KCL, though he hasn't bowled a huge amount this season due to an injury. He's still very raw but has terrific potential.
  • Very excited to see Robinson play , not sure what kent have planned for him, but going forward , we really do need to find a way of fitting both himself and Billings in the same team.

Starting to worry henry hasn't been confirmed for the second half of the season ! Let's hope it gets sorted, another two or three wins and we really can start thinking of promotion
