No longer here but Kayleigh Barton named today in the Wales squad for the Euros. Didn't realise but following her release she has now become Head Coach at Saltdean United Women, who play in the fifth tier.

Can't be many Head Coaches that have at the same time played for their country in a major international tournament before?

The club tweeted out congratulations for the call up which, while nice, is an odd thing to do when not going to be playing for us anymore

We currently have 5 contracted players, plus 11 offered contracts. Surely not all of those will sign. That creates a huge opportunity to invest and upgrade.
That will cost more money, does that then come from the men`s team budget or from more borrowing from the owners.
That's for the owners to decide but I would hope they'd put their hand in their pockets. Promotion opens up huge commercial opportunities. On top of that, a home game against Arsenal or Chelsea could probably triple our standard gates. Of course players then need to be paid more too. But if the club aren't in it for promotion and success then what's the point?
Like 95% of our supporters, I hope they  solely invest their money in the men's team.
So your commitment to the Club as you put on another thread is not actually to the club but to the men's team, which is fair enough.

To me the club is all encompassing of all teams that represent us including women's team, the youth of both genders and even the community trust. One club, many parts.

I suspect whether we invest more heavily in the women's team will depend solely upon financial considerations. By that will the investment make the club worth more. Long term term potential returns but also by increasing the overall value of the Charlton brand. I know supporters hate that term but that is really what investors in the club are looking for.

Hopefully a strong women's euros performance gives the WSL a new boost. It does seem it is difficult to maintain momentum

I guess we are going to get a drip feed of players who have been offered contracts signing.

Still no sign of the season ticket prices.

I have no problem with the owners throwing a load of money at the women's team. If they can afford it then why not? Would be good to see us in the WSL against Arsenal, Chelsea and City.

WSL up to 14 teams in 26/27

Top 2 automatically up and 3rd play in a playoff against the bottom WSL team

Would have been promoted already if this happened in the last couple of seasons. Need to make it count this year
This feels to me like that start of no relegation by stealth. Sometimes the worst team in the WSL really stinks the place out but there can be a huge gap between a team who have been able to invest in better players with WSL money and the one finishing third in the second division. We got slapped around fairly convincingly by Palace in a cup game this season and I think this is their first attempt at pulling up the drawbridge like they've already suggested
From 26/27 its a play off against second bottom with the bottom team going down automatically, which I think is better
Maybe, it's good that there's a guaranteed relegation, though as teams have started investing more in their women's teams there has started being a pretty substantial gap between bottom and second bottom. There's one team totally out of their depth and one who has had a bad season. No team in the Championship was going to beat Spurs this season for instance, or West Ham the season before. I don't think these Play-Offs will take long to become visibly pointless

Ipswich Town have just announced a deal to play their women's fixtures at Colchester United, in place of Felixstowe where they were for the FA Cup game a while back.

I'll consider buying a ST for the women as I'll be living in walking distance of The Valley

Think I'm going to get my first one this season too, as I really enjoyed going to the home games last season. Much more squad strengthening needed, obviously, but Jodie Hutton's extension is a great start.

    absolute bargain for CAFCW STs!
hopefully plenty will get them, and swell the crowds - certainly a lot to play for this season, no reason why we cant end up as WSL

Reckon any other part of the ground will be open with season?

They must be thinking about occasionally opening blocks A and B, otherwise it would make no sense to put the away fans in G when in the past they've tended to head for F because it's where the away dugout is. They could have given us B-E and the visitors F if it was always going to be just the 4 blocks.

With a record attendance of I think about 1400, I can't see us needing the West Upper even with season tickets so cheap.

I’m going to get one even though I can usually only make 2-3 matches per season. It’s a great way to show support for CAFCW in general. Even cheaper than Rich Cawley’s Substack!

I'll get 2 tomorrow and digital ticket to save it not getting to my correct address when I move. Plus I won't get mixed up between the men and women's tickets that way!

Tried this morning and the link from the news article didn't work. When I tried going in via the menus on the website I found myself looking at last season's STs. Don't know if that's a glitch with my laptop or on the site, but if it's the site it will hopefully be fixed soon.

I got it too. You need to click Season Tickets then buy then women's season tickets to get to the correct page. They've left the option of v12 finance for the men's season tickets on the payment page too which is a bit stupid tbf.
