Similar time kick off this coming Saturday v Stevenage. Fingers crossed we don’t have the same outcome
Apparently 2 cars in the car park prevented them getting the heat lamps onto the pitch.

Amateur hour down at the Valley if that’s the case

The temperature calculations are a little more complicated than the guesses above.  Here, south of Gravesend, last night's minimums were -0.7C and -3.9 at grass level.  Currently (4:10pm), it is 6.0 and 0.0 on the grass.  Like the JS my weather station doesn’t see much sun at this time of year.  Whatever time they chose to play today the ground was likely to be iffy in front of the JS.  Have we still not got a boiler ?

Understandable why it was called off, but still really frustrating. Particularly because there looked to be a decent crowd in, helped no doubt by the fact this was one of the few women's home games this season when the men weren't at home the day before.

    I would hope that

    1)  we have the covers on all night

    And

    2) we turn the undersoil heating on.

Neither of which happened last night / today.

I hope, when they send the collection round at The Valley, there’s enough £1 coins for the meter for Saturday ….. and the rest of February ;-)

How many is a decent crowd at a women’s game?

and would the income generated pay for the heating/ lights/ pitch maintenance and ground prep? I would imagine not and would cause even more damage to the pitch.

You ignore the fact that the £750,000 grant from the FA to upgrade the pitch was for the women's team to play at The Valley.

The pitch has not been managed well. A more experienced football groundsman is needed.

Blackburn's women's team is only just surviving financially at the moment. Charlton as a club let them down big time.

Somebody has definitely cocked up here. My son reffed a game at 10 am on a park pitch. I would imagine it will be know to the groundsman what part of the pitch gets less sunlight and they just had to cover that.

We've signed Fran Stables, another midfielder, until the summer.

Wouldn't use the above link @Crusty54, looks dodgy to me and lots of questionable links in the comments. The live stream will be from the official Championship page which you can find here https://www.youtube.com/@BarclaysWC/streams

  • I think the Championship channel is live-streaming the Birmingham game rather than us. Unless I've mis-read it.

You might be right there on second look, not sure anyone else will be streaming it though so we might be reduced to highlights

5 behind Birmingham as it stands, played a game less. More worried about LCL who are 4 points ahead of us having played the same amount of games

CAST is subsidising coach travel to the game v Bristol City at Ashton Gate on March 16th.

Provided there is sufficient interest the coach will run (from Charlton) for £5 return.
