Well. Plenty of reasons to be depressed but that Hutton goal has cheered me up at least. We’re playing much better in this 442 but there’s still areas of concern. Not sure how bad Johnston must be for Robe to be in ahead of her at RB but you’d have to assume very off this showing. Davidson has once again run around a lot and not done much else making me even more surprised that Flandog lost her place to her. EvE looks decent at least. Kenney has the feet but not the gas and much like last season she looks like she’s out of puff inside 15 minutes. She’s also permanently offside. We have to pray that Azzaro can do something one day. Just give the ball to Hutton and pray, that’s a legitimate enough strategy today4

Compared with the Liverpool match, they played with a bit more confidence but still too many misplaced passes and lack of fitness.

Much better today despite the scoreline. There were actually long periods of that second half where we were the better team and threatened more, though Not Millwall always looked like they could score if they really wanted. I’ll need to see it again but I could have sworn that first half tackle from NM was two footed and could have been looked at for a red but the ref didn’t even give a foul. The shape was better but we just don’t have the strikers to play the way we want. Kenney doesn’t have the stamina and no-one has the pace in behind we need. Maybe Boama’s strength was going to be the key but that’s out now. I’d like to see Azzaro start soon as there’s obviously some kind of player there and she needs a chance to show it.Robe was atrocious at RB, I’m sure she’s a competent centre half but I don’t want to see that again. Johnston and then Siber both did better there, though Johnston’s lack of pace was alarming. Lobato at left back was also troubling but when she moved into the centre she was probably our best player aside from Hutton. I’m not sure why Hills seems to not trust her as much as she should. I don’t know why but I feel like Davidson is a Hills favourite and it’s mystifying, it’s like she’s there shadowing a football match, always running but never near the ball. EvE was better and Jodie Hutton and N’Dow showed they can play at WSL level. It’s a real shame Newsham isn’t there as well.What’s very notable is how much Sophie Whitehouse is a non-factor this season. The quality of finishing is completely removing her from the process and the POTY who bailed us out so many times last season just isn’t able to do that now. It’s in no way her fault, it means we need to get much better at closing down shots and angles because we can’t rely on her every week anymore. The positive is that we really weren’t too bad today and we’ve improved every game so far. Play like we did today against a team that doesn’t have ballon d’or and World Cup winners in it and we might see something more. If we could cut back on the injuries as well that would be great.3

Second half going forwards was probably the best weve looked yet this season.
Indervidule mistakes really cost us today.
It is going to be a really tough season, attendance was good considering it was on the same time as the men's team were playing

Play Hutton on the left and we'll get the best out of her, as we saw today - not just the goal, but a couple of other good crosses.
Kenney needs to learn how to stay onside.
Robe looked like what she is: defensive cover who wouldn't be starting if everyone was available.
Siber made a couple of really good runs down the right in the second half, but then underhit a backpass that Lobato just managed to clear off the line.
More broadly, you could tell which team has had millions invested and which hasn't. LCL were much quicker at moving the ball around, their first touch was consistently better, and again their players were physically stronger than ours.
Boama was there with her leg in a brace and using crutches, so it'll be a very long time before we see her play, and Skeels was also on crutches after she went off. It wouldn't necessarily be transformative, but our bad luck with injuries really doesn't help.

Also, what an absolute prick Not Millwall's manager is. Always up out of his seat moaning his hole off about absolutely everything regardless of what was happening on the pitch. It felt like he had 3 members of support staff who were purely there to calm him down and get him back in his seat when he'd wandered off again to have a little scream and a cry because his team hadn't nailed the 40 yard crossfield pass he wanted. Must be absolutely miserable working for him, their entire bench looked like they were sick of him before the game had even kicked off2

I barely watched the second half in all honesty but it felt like we made way too much of a big deal over the goal. It was great and a historic moment but we can’t afford to be overawed by moments like that. You have to switch on and get back to business quickly1

Agreed - it was typical that we couldn't even hold out until half-time without conceding again. To be fair, it was a huge moment. When that second goal went in it had got pretty gloomy around the stadium. No shots on target in the first two games, referee decisions going against us, horrible injuries and basically already looking like a loss after 15 minutes. There’s been talk about whether or not this team would get a goal in the WSL let alone a point and to see a strike of such incredible quality really did buoy the place. We'll get points this season, the question will be how far away we are come January.

No sign as yet of tickets for the trip to Brighton on 4 October going on sale. Brighton have had home tickets on sale for ages and their website confirms away tickets should be available from Charlton. It looks like we're getting block E1I, right in the far south corner of the East stand. Not the best of views, but it's a day out and the men aren't playing so I assume there will be a few takers.0

The league average for last season was 1,357 and for one game (Alhama v Badalona) the attendance was.........42 (yes FORTY TWO).3 -
We were clearly always looking at a season of struggle this year - the investment in the squad has been miles behind the rest of the league.
But we’ve been hit with some dreadful luck too, with our record signing getting crocked before kicking a ball in anger, our decent looking loan from Not-Millwall getting crocked too, our most impressive performer so far getting a three match ban for a ridiculously harsh red card in the one game we had a chance of getting a result so far and now possibly Keira Skeels might be out for a bit too.
It was always going to be a tough season, but the start we’ve had has been brutal. I’m inclined to think we’ll get better.6 -
