First time I’ve tuned in this season and I’m astonished this is the highest level of women’s football in this country, half of our lot look like they’ve never seen a football before let alone kicked one. What a waste letting them play at the valley.

We can be proud of that performance today. Much, much better and if not for the free kick I think we’d have been walking away with a point. Whitehouse made one excellent double save but everything else was routine for her and at the other end Korhonen had three good chances as well as a superb save from Cumings off a Hutton strike. We threatened a lot more than usual and it’s a shame we didn’t exploit the ball over the top a bit more. Players I’ve been troubled by were a lot better today; Cissoko had a strong second half, Davidson snapped into a few challenges and showed she’s got an idea of how to play round the corner, even more impressive given she didn’t have a lot of support in the middle with EvE going off. Azzaro looked like she had a touch of class and Lobato was really good at LB despite being out of position. Flandog is going to be a proper player if she keeps up like this, only just 21 but her passing range and tackling are excellent at times.It would be easy to be frustrated after that given it’s another 1-0 where we should really have come away with something but this was a much better performance than Everton and it was against the champions who we made look fairly pedestrian for the whole match. We looked spent by the last ten and it’s not great that injuries are hurting an already small squad but we are looking better every game so there’s definitely positives to take today3

Man City players all better then ours, I reckon that all there sd were faster than any of ours, they seemed to have better situational awareness, Sophie made it look less one side by 3 or 4 out standing saves today.
We had our chances though which came from second phase long balls, when we tried to tippy tappy our way forward it just put us in trouble.0 -

I think we can be hopeful after that. Of course ducking in the wall is inexcusable but I felt it was a stupid foul by Fitzgerald. She looked a bit out of her depth. Flannery looked very good as did Lobato. There were a lot of good performances and we did create some chances.3

Looking at the highlights that early Korhonen chance is much more annoying than I remembered. She'd pressured Cumings over and all she had to do was look up and cut the ball back onto one of the two onrushing players for an open goal but she just dinked it into the defender. Won a corner but just a touch of composure in that situation and we would have been one up2

A performance that showed signs of improvement, in front of a decent crowd who kept positive throughout.
You could tell we were trying to keep the ball at the back a bit more rather than just lumping it forward, but there were several times when it would have been best just to hit it long to relieve the pressure, especially with Hutton ready to race onto balls in behind the defence. It's particularly risky when all our players want more time on the ball than they're ever going to get at this level - often City managed to box us in, and we'd end up giving away a throw in our own half or chipping the ball down the line straight into touch.
Lobato didn't play badly, but left back isn't the right place for her. I get that Mason has struggled at this level, but having a right-footer there did hamper us. Cissoko will give us all kittens when she's on the ball, but she has good strength (as Mead found out) and her recovery tackle to stop Shaw was excellent. Johnston did OK in terms of holding up Fujino, but she's quite lightweight and not the greatest with the ball at her feet.
I don't feel as positive about Davidson as others. She has so far produced little in an attacking sense, doesn't have the physical presence of van Egmond, and can't grab the game by the scruff of the neck like Flannery at least tries to. I get that it's still early days, and this has obviously been a baptism of fire for all the players, but I hope there's more to come from her. Korhonen is frustrating too, as there's a player in there, but she also doesn't really look up for the battle (the duck being the prime example) and doesn't quite have the end product (see the chance after she pressured Cumings, the shot from her run and the header from Hutton's cross). Azzaro showed some real skill, but needs a strong striker partner alongside her, which we don't currently have.
As much as it wasn't City at their best, there were definitely positives today. The challenge is to keep building on them and to maintain our morale if we keep losing.2 -
I really don't know what Lizzie Waldie has to do to get on the pitch. She is left footed and would be better on the that side of the defence.1

The Players Cup games are available as a set if you're going to all 3 but don't have a season ticket. I'm not sure if the website works it out and applies a discount or if you have to buy via the ticket office.
The away league games at Brighton and Birmingham you'll need to buy from Charlton in order to get a ticket in the right area. For the Palace cup game they don't have an away area at Sutton and tickets are sold by Palace not us. Note the early kickoff time for this one.
For Brighton the ticketing website is showing 28 sold out of 100 allocated. That's not including players' friends & relations who tend to be quite a proportion of our away support.0
