I love that picture too. I first saw it in the window of a photo art shop in Paris in 2004. It was on a Sunday and the shop was closed, otherwise I would have loved to have bought it, even though it was quite a lot of money. I recognised Sam Bartram immediately and took these couple of pictures (it's right at the bottom of the shop window display). I hadn't seen the picture before and haven't seen it since, until you posted it now.
To me this is an iconic football photograph. I haven't really seen another one like it before. I've always thought it would be great if the club could produce a book full of the best Charlton photos from the 30's - 80's. Unfortunately I don't suppose it would be financially viable.
