"The 2023 Ashes Tests have been awarded to the same five grounds as the 2019 edition, the England and Wales Cricket Board has confirmed.

Edgbaston, Headingley, The Oval, Lord's and Old Trafford will all host England v Australia matches in both series."

So we blank Trent Bridge for two consecutive home Ashes series? Crazy. Only we would do that. Like Aussie dropping Brisbane.

    What one would you drop for Trent Bridge ?
    I don’t like the look of Old Trafford so that one for me

    Well I'd agree Old Trafford but really it should be Lords as we've only beaten them there twice in about 80 years! We should go back to a Six Test series like we had in the 80's and 90's, just keep away from Cardiff, Southampton and Durham.

    Agree with no Cardiff, Southampton or Durham for an Ashes series.

    Should be done on a rotation basis with one of five grounds missing out once every 20 years - Lord's is the only ground that I think you couldn't take it from.

    Of course you can't not have Lords but we are shit there! I have been fortunate to have been at both our post war Ashes victories at HQ in 2009 and 2013.

    I speak as a Londoner but maybe drop The Oval for Trent Bridge every other series ? 2 London venues out of 5 is a bit much ?

    The London grounds deliver the largest attendances with the highest ticket prices and highest corporate revenue, they'll never have fewer than 2 Ashes tests.

    A shame for Trent Bridge though. Surprised one of Edgbaston, Headingley and OT didn't miss out in one year

    Tbh I wouldn't give it to Edgbaston simply because it pisses me off that they get finals day every year.

    Edgbaston is a must. Far better for watching England than Lords or the Oval. I also like Trent Bridge as a venue much better than Headingley or Old Trafford. Unfortunately they will always choose Lords and Oval for financial reasons. They can charge double the prices of the other grounds and still get a full house.

    I wasn't serious. I'm just bitter about the finals day thing.

    Trent Bridge is the smallest of the 6 proper test grounds so the decision makes sense.

    Lords has been dropped for the 50 over game for Trent Bridge.

    Rashid has been sufficiently disenchanted, at the age of 29, to retire from 1st Class cricket and will play white ball only cricket from now on.

    Not got an IPL or PSL contract this year. Unless he is brought in by the IPL as a late replacement for someone with an injury he is going to be sitting around for the first 3 months of the season waiting for Englands white ball season to start. Hardly good preparation is it?

    To be fair I don't blame him for giving up on test cricket, the way he was overlooked by the England set up this winter, in favour of Crane who they realised wasnt ready, was frankly ridiculous.

    I didnt realise it was that early. Even still you would have thought it was in both his and Yorkshires interest to have him on a pay as you play deal for the champo. Bowling spin is all about rhythm, overs under your belt early season is whats needed. Much of his batting reputation is built on his record in the first class game, he has had a few very good years for them averaging nearly 40. He has never really replicated this in the one day stuff so you would ahve thought the odd longer game would help keep him in form and keep his reputation as decent lower order bat.

    In an emergency I suppose Rashid could still be brought back to play for the Yorkshire CC side I assume

    A few player seem to specialise these days, even if it isn't necessarily their choice
