He then kneed their defender in the coccyx prompting much pushing and shoving during which he swopped shirts with a team-mate and was able to give the ref a false name when he was booked the second time.

Not Charlton but the battle of Santiago from the 1962 WC was a 90 minute brawl between Chile and Italy. As Coleman probably said quite remarkable.

I was 11 or 12 so must have been a good 18/19 years ago. Bromley were at Hayes Lane and a pure filth of a double footed tackle on one of their players (which I believe broke both of the Bromley players legs) led to a full on fight between 22 players and the coaching staff.
Each team had a player sent off and no-one thought to escort them down the tunnel. Within 30 seconds every player had disappeared behind them and were back fighting again, with the occasional person popping out and running back in again.
Took all of security and the police at the match to get it back under control and for the match to start.
Really surprised it wasn't abandoned looking back.
I remember Peter Garland and Alex Rae getting sent off for a tear up..... well it was more a roll around on the floor.
A classic non Charlton one was Rangers V Celtic, Frank Mcavennie, Chris Woods and Terry Butcher all sent off. Graham Roberts went in goal and ended up conducting the Crowd at one point.
I've scoured the internet for footage of an incredible brawl in British football from 95 or 96 involving definelty Plymouth and I think Chester or Chesterfield. Absolutely fucking chaotic and a proper set of punch ups going on not pushing and shoving, the two number 6's were punching the shit out of each other in the net while mayhem ensued around them
Nobody does fights quite as well as the South Americans in my learned opinion, hours of fun watching various explosive behaviour from them
Yeah, I was surprised to say the least at Curbs signing Todd after the fisticuffs with Stuart. Later on, of course, there was an off-the-field altercation between Todd and Kiely, resulting in him being dropped from the travelling squad and Kiely taking to the field with a bloody great shiner.

The Vincenza game was the one where it all kicked off. Rufus absolutely scythed through someone in the first minute and it carried on from there, story was it started in the tunnel with some spitting and other sundry intimidation.

Playing in a school game on Charlton Park. Teacher was taking part and running around like that prat played by Brian Glover in Kes. I said something rather detrimental and it must of hit a nerve because he ran up and floored me with one punch. Went down more in shock than anything.

Wasn't Powell interviewed about this? Curbs said to him that he was stupid getting sent off in a friendly. Powell said he reacted because the player had said something abusive to a disabled Charlton fan. Either that or he had kicked the ball at him. Apparently Curbs hearing this was furious and wanted to punch said player!
