Anglo Italian Cup trip-Brescia 12th October 1993

  • I went to Brescia a few weeks ago. Watched the champions league final there in a bar. Thought to myself what a great away day it would have been. Would certainly have trumped any from last season destination wise.
  • Didn't do Brescia, went to Ancona instead.

Delted see Clive had already posted.
  • Found another one of the trip. At least I think it is.image
I think the older guy front left with the flat cap was interviewed by the TV crew on the 1st game back at the valley.
I thought he'd got on the wrong coach. Should have been Saga to lake Como.
  • Reckon we would take well over 1,000 if these games happened again

If you believe everyone on here who reckons they went then we had well over 1,000 last time too!

I think there was 3 coaches full and about 100 on a plane at the Brescia match.

Am not surprised, if memory serves me right the price was £50 for coach travel and a night's accommodation.
Fair play to those who did that, I passed and went to the Ancona game, but by plane.
  • went to Brescia by coach. Seem to remember the little bar in our hotel had sold out about an hour after we arrived. Remember strolling into the local village and the little shop there being unable to cope with the sudden influx of customers.
  • I also went on the coach to Brescia - it has left brilliant memories and was so well organised by the Supporters Club - as has been said, coach / accomodation and match ticket all for a bargain price (Ive got £67 in my mind). Sunday evenings in the run up to the game listening to RTM for all the info about the trip from Airman - first competitive game in Europe , a totally new experience.
In qualifying we played at the New Den for the first time and won ( 2-1 from memory ?) plus the Ancona game marked the first ever goal in Europe in the 1-1 draw, having lost 2-0 at Brescia.
    Superb memories !

I think we drew with the spanners but beat the filth to enable us to go to Italy.

Think we beat the Spanners in the next season

I think you're right. Betty was steward of one coach, Me and Mrs TT another, possibly Rick the third.
  • Remember the ferry being closed to all football fans on the way home because of trouble with the England Fan coming back from Holland. it was the night England lost to Holland under Graham Taylor and missed out on the world cup. I remember thinking why didn't I fly.
I was coming back from the Holland that night, don’t remember there being any problems with the ferries?
That’s because we had to wait until all England fans had cleared the port, of which you were one.

  • It's the ref who should be sorry. It was a stone wall red card for Koeman. Most angriest I've been watching an England game!
