Bit of a dump but have had a few mixed memories down there, celebrated a mid 80's Hales winner from the home end and nearly got lynched.
A year or two later I got clouted by a stick from a rozzer on horseback. It was on a crossroads where there were a couple of pubs and it was getting lively, sore head but I probably deserved it.
Early 90's I promised my wife a midweek day at the seaside, 'oh look theres another Charlton fan (on the M3), thats strange', 'never heard of Fratton as a seaside town before'.
My game was up when we went for a quiet drink and VFR was being sung, too late to come home so she agreed to go to the game, we won 2 or 3-1 from a goal down I think? The Bell bloke was getting pelters and we were stood in a penned in corner. Wife and I are still together.
The last time I went was premiership days with my brother & cousins and it was a proper all dayer, we were out-out and got home very late and very mullered, 2-0 down, pulled back to 2-2 and lost 4-2, still a great day.
All were pre-dad days so hoping to go to this one and act like a grown up this time.
And I remember the 91/92 David Whyte/Leaburn 2-1 game, too....a 14 year old me was on the away side of the fence that separated the terracing and a bunch of my mates from school (grew up down that way) were the other side of the fence supporting Pompey and giving me pelters
I got some funny looks from some of the roughly 100 other away supporters who tried to figure it out
Was that the game that Robert Lee ran the show, too? I think so
That night they had a big crowd because they were selling FA Cup semi final tickets I think. Bolder saved a penalty before they went 1.0 up in the 2nd half. We fought back brilliantly to win 2.1. We had a bloody good away record that season.
Just bought mine . Bloke in the shop said there's about 250 left he thinks
eek now quite tempted for this, not sure if jumping the gun and see how we get on in Northampton. Also checking mates availability make sure he is not due to work or at Spurs.

Favourite was the midweek 2-1 win with David Whyte and a trademark Leaburn header in 91/92
Our only say win that season.
May as well chuck it.
Looking like it will be my first session since so yeah
I don't remember that one. I thought that Faye scored the last time we played there.
