Unfortunately I didn't get to see the first 3 games under Bowyer, but from what I have seen apart from the change of formation we look no different to how we played under Robinson - there's just no pace to our play, we just knock it around the centre backs and then mostly get forced to kick it long as the opposition just press us. Occasionally we will get it through to a midfielder but then there's just no movement or runners from them to pass to.
Reeves can definitely pick out a pass so would like to see him play in the middle of the diamond more as he could certainly make things happen around him and effect the game more.
This, this and this again....it’s absolute dog shit
64’ CHARLTON 0-1 IRON: Adelakun shows some good skill to make space for a shot, which is deflected. Amos tried to keep the ball in play, but the Iron now have a corner on the right side. #UTI
First game watching a Bowyer team and it’s absolutely no different, it’s shite.
Seen absolutely nothing of Reeves or nothing to convince me that Zyro is any sort of a player at all (certainly no better than Josh who must be sitting on that bench feeling very hard done by)
If you’d watched the early Bowyer games, you’d feel differently. I think teams have an idea how he wants to play now and can play to defend it. I also think Zyro has played too many games in succession after so long out and we’re now going Saturday-Tuesday fir 2 or 3 weeks.
No disrespect mate but we are Charlton not Barcelona....teams don’t need to suss us out, we are playing 442, same as every fucking Sunday pub side in this country
We're playing a diamond. We played 4231 every game this season up until Plymouth. Bowyer had never managed a game before so teams had no idea if he would keep it the same or change it. So how did they prepare for us? Every team plays a bit differently, carries different threats. Preparation for the opposition is a huge part of professional football at any level. They know how Bowyer wants to set us, how he wants us to pass the ball, where we will focus our attacks, seen unknown quantities like Zyro play now, teams are much better prepared and we still not good enough or inventive enough to overcome their game plans. Just like under Robinson.
