solly was still a kid and quite inexperienced before powell came in. Hard to say, i think waggy and jacko were the only two regulars that stayed after that summer. Maybe matt taylor or michael morrison. Taylor was experienced and powell already knew morrison from leicester.

Read somewhere before was jj or matt Taylor think it was swapped between them two during friendliest before Powell choose jj

Didn't Matt Taylor and Danny Hollands both come in as captains from their teams previously? I would suspect those two at the very least.

Danny Hollands might have been another shout for potential captain - he'd done it at Bournemouth and later at Pompey I think.

There was a detailed interview with him either in the trust news or VOTV a while back where he talked about the preparation going into that season. He mentioned that the first couple of pre season games he used different captains to see who reacted and how. I believe he listed Taylor Solly and one other as options. Can't remember who - may have been Hollands?

Really love Jacko and Wilson. Remember me and my uncle getting a picture with them in the car park at the end of one season and some really weird bloke was their who was struggling to take the photo for all of us. Had such a great laugh with them both. Legends

Yeah and I'm almost certain both Taylor and Morrison and I think Hollands all captained us at various points.
